Just had a look at the OS to see how far up the list of goalscorers Cody is already - 9th for the record* - but was upset by the fact that players who are no longer part of the playing staff don't even get a mention - just erased from history as if they haven't played a part in getting us to where we are at the moment. http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/stats/player-stats/ I HOPE that this is something to do with database issues, and that if a player isn't listed on the playing staff then the stats database can't look up his record, but even if that's the case it needs looking into. Ross Flitney's still there at the moment though, I guess until the squad list on the site gets updated. in Twitterspeak #theydeservebetter *correction, actually equal 5th. After 2 games. What does that say about the variety of sources of goals that was being talked about a while back?
The clubs have to use that format, and use PA information. Its annoying, particularly below the Championship when there's precious little else available (ESPN is quite good) of note.
I was hoping to find some deep rooted conspiracy, but should have known better when the numbers sage that is Marco 4 posted his explanation. Further research has indeed established that other clubs that use the format that Gills do - which is most of the L1 and L2 clubs - also no longer have transferred players on the stats records. So it's down to the franchised design of the website, which I think is unsatisfactory. The design that is. Thanks also to grumpy about the stats being available elsewhere. This is something that I was aware of, but I just thought that the official site of a football club should be in a position to provide the information. For the record the following site does give quite detailed info : Statbunker (link to Gills page : http://www.statbunker.com/football/btb/index.php?PL=team&TeamID=56&CompID=422) Also for general stats, not for squad info - should appeal to Marco 4! : Statto (link to Gills page : http://www.statto.com/football/teams/gillingham)
Thanks itstimupnorth. Also I always use Statto for general stats, although for some reason to which I have not yet established it is a slightly different version to my one.
