Now according to this chap all Watfraud need to do is win all their games to become Champions. Do they never stop. http://www.wfcforums.com/showthread.php?46249-Could-we-win-the-Championship I found it very uplifting.
Entertaining stuff! And if Brighton in 6th down to Peterborough in 23rd lose all their remaining games and Bristol City win all their games then the wurzels make the playoffs, knock Watford out in the semis and beat Forest in the final. We then get 2 derbys to look forward to! Beam me up! Lol
Yes, you can play with all the figures to end up with what results you want, almost, such is the closeness this years league has produced. I think a 7 game winning run is asking a bit much judging on the results we've all seen in the last couple of months. As for us , we draw one game closer to achieving the result we've so long awaited. I'd settle for a draw tomorrow, but a Hull win could produce a nail in the coffin of Watfrauds chances that maybe enough to seal the coffin.
I think it's fair enough to expect your team to win matches, especially as they are one of the top teams. Clearly the margin for error is zero and a win for Hull will virtually guarentee Cardiff and Hull promotion for sure. I would say for this reason Hull v Watford is the most important Championship match of the season....so far. But a win for Watford at Hull then at home to you, will really open things up. I think this is what this guy is saying. Beating the top two creates a fantastic momentum which could lead to a winning streak. The league is crazy enough for something like this to happen.....so who knows. To be fair, from what I've seen, the current top three are the best three teams by a long way, so all three should go up, although one will have to go through the lottery of a playoff.
You can hope your team goes on a fantastic run, no harm in that, and the math is there to say he is right! Stranger things have happened I guess. Of course a win for Hull tonight would put that out the window(or a draw in our case I would think) It's such a big ask at a time when none of the top 3 are showing anywhere near that kind of form. But I found it an enjoyable post, here we are, still concerned until we cross the line, while one of yours is still targeting the title, how great is that.
Given the amount of points being dropped by the Top 6, you'd swear no team wants to be promoted. For that reason I see Cardiff finishing top, the others have already had a chance to put Cardiff back in the play-off's but they faltered miserably.
If it comes to that, we will. There's nothing better than going to Wembley and winning a playoff final......although it does give you a few heart attacks along the way.
The only reason why I think Watford can go on a good run, is that they have their influencial midfield back now. When this trio play, Watford get good results. P 10 W 8 D 2 L 0 F 25 A 8 is Watford's record when Abdi, Chalobah and Battocchio have all played together. These players make a huge difference to them.
An impressive record when your favourite three play in midfield. Achieved before the pressure was on.
One thing is for sure, it's a nail biting end to the season for some, us included. Good to see some goals scored yesterday, about time we used the flair players.
We could put up similar results for this season Hornetto! We to have had good runs. I suspect Hull have had their good runs as well. As it stands we are 7 points ahead of Hull and 11 ahead of you all games square (and that's with that good run you had?), you have a reliance that stems from others failing quite badly to achieve the title. It's possible but improbable.
Totally agree. This requires a lot of stars aligning, and I wouldn't even put money on it but the odds would be very good if you did. It requires Watford winning 7 on the trot and Cardiff picking up only 10 points from the rest of the season, which is quite low for a top team, something like a run of P7 W 3 D1 L 3. But with Watford, Forest and Hull still to play, these are tough fixtures.
You left out the other 4 teams we play so I'm guessing you think those aren't tough games for us? do you think you left them out because we might just win them? But you and I know you could say all games are tough, and if they're tough for us, they're tough for everyone else as well.
Actually, that is rubbish. We have been consistently averaging 2 points per game. Show me the last time team that averaged 2 points a game over a season did not go up automatically in the Championship. We haven't been caught because we have consistently been getting points.
The other teams you play are Burnley, Bolton, Charlton & Barnsley. As you say everyone is capable of losing to everyone else but I would expect you to win at least three of these. One of these could prove to be a banana skin though where you could drop a couple of unexpected points.
Yes...this season, but not consecutively. Here are the matches when these three have played. They don't always play due to injury and squad rotation, but Zola is going to play them all during the run-in as games are running out. Middlesbrough Away W 2-1 Nottingham Forest Away W 3-0 Bolton Home W 2-1 Ipswich Away W 2-0 Derby Home W 2-1 Huddersfield Home 4-0 W Birmingham Away 4-0 W Sheffield Wed Home (Chalobah came on second half when 0-1) 2-1 W Wolves Away D 1-1 (last minute equalizer) Burnley Home D 3-3 (last minute equalizer)
