I can't quite work it out, two seasons ago we allowed Beckford to run down his contract and walk out on a free hoping his goals would earn us promotion. Yesterday we allowed Max to go on what seems like the cheap yet we refused a decent offer for Paynter. I am not including loan players as we had a whole host in and out and I have lost count of who we had when. On contracts We release Grella, Bessone, Gradel, Naylor, Higgs, Kasper, Kilkenny and Johnson. In we have two new keepers and Brown. Wage wise we have saved on five players this season yet we have just watched the window close and we have signed nobody. Is Grayson making way for a rush when the market opens again with a temporary stop gap with a loan if need be? Was it Bates having a say and ensuring if Grayson does get the push around Christmas he has a few pennies to tempt a new manager?
think you have point there Bates is saving the money will sack Grayson employ Martin O neil and give him 30 million bucks to spend on players. please log in to view this image
I think the moving attachment half way down your post sums it up nicely. Papa Smurf couldn't employ O'Neil, as much because he couldn't control him. More to the point, as soon as things got sticky, O'Neil would do a runner, as he's done at least twice before. Will be interesting to listen to Papa Smurf on Yorkshire radio tonight & then, as actions speak louder than words, to see what happens next week when the loan window opens. Hoping for a couple of decent loanees, but I'm not holding my breath.
You have to wonder who is left available for loan. Surely Grayson has his first two choices, we missed out on a few decent ones yesterday like Lansbury. Spurs didn't do as much in the market as they would have liked, maybe we will be sniffing around there, Chelsea and Liverpool were busy both have large squads any availability or am I living in cuckoo land...
