Liverpool seem to be aiming to sign promising young players. A lot of fans, including me, love this vision. But how old do you consider to old? or no longer young? I'm going to say 26 or 27, judging on the individual, and the idea that a players physical peak is between28 and 31. What are your thoughts? Also, why is there a Fellaini graphic but no Carroll pony tail?!?!
For me the peak of "youth" in footie terms is around 24 - since there's still room for potential. I think from 25/26 players tend to peak and don't massively improve overall. Drogba being an exception.
Drogba's a serial exception indeed. I agree the hight of youth is 24 in football. But some players still have great things to offer when a bit older, like Raul Meireles.
Who are you signing? Do you mean Carroll? He was a panic buy I thought. Over priced and nothing special. Suarez is good though but needs time to show what he can do.
We dont know who we are signings, its all hush hush. Though links so far suggest Jordan Henderson and Phill Jones. And I think Carroll was wanted any way, maybe the fee was a bit of a panic (or more, move to get it done quick), but the player was not a panic buy. I personally think the Carroll fee made a good statement of intent.
Liverpool with a host of english players in the first team will capture a generation of young Englsih fans with the ain of making Liverpool the main supplier of players to the England squad too as with Barca and Spain. What Liverpool are doing will also make England better in the future if they are all good enough to make the squad that is. It would be a great thing for Liverpool to have 6 7 8 England internationals in the first team.
he only needed 90 minutes to run around three united defenders and proivde a tap in for Kuyt, and then make two more UNited players look like idiots as he went past them like they weren't even there, I think everyone next season in all teams should have a go at nutmegging uniteds midfield for the crack, so who can do it most, Messi made Vidic look like a cheerio
