We are struggling with injuries so had little choice but to play him, but how did this guy ever become a pro footballer, let alone playing in the premiership!

This is not a reaction to sl*g off players as a result of last night, but I've never seen him play half decent. He is just SO nervous with the ball and panicks when he is closed down and opposing players sense this.

Shouldn't get anywhere near the team when bosingwa, troure, fabio and co fit.

I agree that he is poor on the ball. Best at CB where his defensive qualities come to the fore. A good, strong, quick defender, but strangely nervous and inept on the ball!

Onuoha certainly seems to have weaknesses to his game, but I think that Hughes needs to take responsibility for switching Dyer for Nelsen. The change resulted us moving positions of 3 of our 4 defenders. Was Dyer injured or was it tactical? If the latter it failed miserably!!!

Not much input from me here, but I have always thought this. I am surprised it hasn't been mentioned before.

I'd commented on Onuoha's criminal lack of pace before now and got shot down. I don't take it personally as I am used to being told I know nothing only to find weeks or months later others spout the same opinion and get 5 star reviews for their comments (Bitter? Me!?)

He's a bit of a hee-haw in either the centre or on either wing and with others available I struggle to see why he isn't parked up on the bench as cover instead of in the 1st eleven. Unless injuries are such that Hughes has no other option I can't see what he brings to the team that Traore, Hill, Nelsen etc don't.

Losing to an open goal back heel in the last knockings of a cup tie that we should have won comfortably shows that our defence is still iffy despite all our business in the transfer window.

He wasn't a starter until Fabio got injured. And with the injury to Bosingwa we're left with little choice unfortunately. Not the best out there but a very good back up imo, a proper professional who takes his living seriously and doesn' p*** about. In comparison to Young I said last year that he doesn't contribute nearly as much offensively, but he makes us more solid as a unit defensively. This was vital to us staying up with our late five win run at HQ last season. But I'm afraid it isn't enough with the way we're trying to move forward, and Fab and Boss is a very good pair of fullbacks and when fit Onouha won't get a look-in. Traore is probably a better full back too, but I can't stand his mentality and so it seems the management feel to.

I think this sums him up fairly well. After Gorkks got Reading's first goal, I noticed at subsequent corners that Onouha was delegated to mark him so I assumed that it was Onouha that lost him for that first goal.

In his defence (sic) it is hard to defend when you are being closed down VERY rapidly and the rest of the team are not showing themselves for the "out-ball".

This happened many times last night when the defenders were left with nowhere to go and nobody to pass to.

    I agree with that Eamon

Too little movement and showing for passes for long periods last night, particularly when going forward

Some of our best play at the end of last season, and in the game at Spurs last weekend, revolved around incisive play going forwards. I lost count of the number of times that the ball was passed back to Cesar last night only for him to kick long, invariably onto Gorkks' head!

However, the first 4 goals last night were all crackers, and respect to KG for not celebrating his

You may find that's because he's actually pretty quick mate. I believe he was a champion sprinter when he was young. Terrible on the ball though!

Thats exactly what happened with Parejo, people who knew nothing about football said he was terrible yet all he was trying to do was keep hold of the ball while the rest of the team were hiding and just wanted him to lump it.

Didn't you say he was a brilliant player and was a fantastic purchase by Hughes when he first came here Norway, though he was getting very little playing time with Mancini? I remember seeing a great goal he scored when on loan to Sunderland posted on here, hard to see him doing that now. Has he been going backwards since he joined us then?

Don't think he's so bad myself defensively, works and tries hard, but he sends too many wayward, dangerous passes eg Swansea.

He is not a full back and never will be. I think he is a decent centre back. The guy shouldn't be blamed for being played out of position.

Not only that, he was being played at LB which he hasnt done before so its not even his 2nd best position.

    Harsh.

Onouha has put in an unquestionable amount of effort whilst being played out of position.

I will be the first to admit that he looks awkward but looking awkward isn't the same as underperforming. I'm not saying that every touch by him is perfect but he has done many impressive things since wearing a QPR shirt, especially seeing as he has always been asked to play out of position.

It would be harsh to say that he's let us down when he hasn't.
