Everyone seems to take it for granted that we will sign a central defender. In my view we should be on the look our for a right back. I don't fancy Onuoha as a right back. Is his rightful place not as a central defender?

I was not impressed with Onuoha as a center back
Looked much more at home at right back
His lack of height is a problem for playing in the middle

i know what you mean about Onohua at CB but he is 6ft2" and an outstanding athlete
yet he didnt seem to have much physical presence in those early games in central defence and he hasnt been playing there since

He was very good at defending when he played RB but pretty hopeless going forward. Definitely integral to our defensive solidity towards the latter part of the season.
His prefered position I believe is CB. But I don't think he and Ferdinand complements each other well enough, at least it didn't look that way when they played together there. With a partner that can lead the defence like Hill or Nelsen I think he would look good as he certainly has pace about him.

Agree with your OP Ciarrai. Buying a RB instead of a CB makes sense, it will also make us more flexible.

Im yet to be convince hes very good at either position but would prefer him at RB than CB but he will play CB a fair bit unless we sign another one.

Centre-half for me but more likely to get a game on the right.

As for lack of height, he's 6' 2".

I think we have not seen the best of him and he will be much improved this season..
when he first joined he hadnt had much playing time for some months and needed games..

Hardly any of our players looked good last season to be fair. I think we should all go into next with an open mind. Last season was such a f*** up we should just write it off and think of all the players as having the ability to be great. I think it'll be one of Anton and nedum to play alongside Nelson this season...

His a CB by choice, don't think we have seen enough of him there to make a judgment there.

In my experience most people who play RB can play LB while not ideal but possible.
