Can you remember our team under Hodgson? Can you remember the strength of the bench? Incredible that we've come so far in 12m under Kenny that some fans are actually surprised that we lost away to City......the favourites to win the league, no less. Yesterday we started without 4 of our best players, possibly our 4 best players.......and City haven't dropped a point at home all season so the fact that we were disappointed to lose says a lot for how far we've come.

However, sometimes I get the feeling that some fans today are more depressed about our club than I was 12 months ago under Hodgson, despite the giant strides forward. Some people need to get a grip on reality. Sure I was frustrated at our inability to turn possession into goals yesterday but I can still detach myself from that disappointment and see the bigger picture.....I hear criticism surrounding if we bought the right players but then I remember that around 18 months ago, Lucas was still being derided by some of our own fans, the same fans who now worship him, and I realise that we are still learning as a team, still gelling, we're still a work in progress......

Now I'm no cook but I do believe that if you make a cake, you don't start with the icing on top, as a few on here would have you believe! No, we're mixing the ingredients; our squad is stronger, we have better players, we're playing good football, our defence is sound, we have great team spirit, we want to win, we have a good coaching set up, we are investing in very young talent, etc, etc. Sure there are a couple of ingredients missing but what do you expect in a year?

So, after the teeth gnashing of some here yesterday, a plea: Don't stop being disappointed but please, ffs, get behind the team and the players......that's what you do when you support a team isn't it? (obviously, this excludes BlacKburn fans <cool> ). I full expect a few on here to complain that it's their right to whinge....I guess it is, but why not do it in a constructive way rather than a 'worst player' poll; something Lucas would of won 3 years ago <doh>

I can remember the tyranny of the Beast after Kenny left - that was dire. Not as bad as Hodgson, with his mid-table attitude and relegation purchases. Thank goodness that sense prevailed and Kenny was installed to wipe the stain away...

Its a measure of the change of attitude and feel about the club that we're looking at our results and being disappointed with them, given that many have gone the way they have by the thickness of a post.

    Nice article KENNY_KOP_KING! <applause>

Just to elaborate your very first point, our bench on the 5th of January 2011... the 3-1 defeat at Blackburn and Roy's last game.

    Gulacsi
    Agger
    Kelly
    Poulsen
    Jovanovic
    Kuyt
    Babel

I think we can all see the improvement from this time last year. We've replaced players like Jovanovic, Konchesky and Poulsen with better players. The squad has improved. The team has improved.

Let's take a look at last night's opponents, Manchester City. When they were taken over in the summer of 2008, they pumped a lot of money in as we all know. It took time for them to build a squad and got Champions League football for the first time in May 2011. Three years later.

Patience is needed in my opinion.
