whats happening with it then? Just been reading that the top tier is just temporary for the olmpics and once the olympics is over it will lose its 55,000 upper tier, with this being the case the toilet facilities for the upper tier are outside of the ground. http://www.google.com/hostednews/af...docId=CNG.9c5b4c77a9a3ad4710ca2a4a8b25c021.51 what a waste and I think that's what it will end up being, if West Ham do get it and with the athletics track running around the outside I think it will be rubbish for football, can they not do what Manchester City done when they got the commonwealth stadium (now the etihad) and dug down adding another tier which got rid of the athletics track so that the seating was close to the pitch. If West Ham do get it is it just going to be a 25,000 seater and will they start playing in it from next season or what? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ edit: just read this and it says its going to be reduced from 80,000 to 60,000 with seats covering the running track for nine months of the year, if that's the case it will be interesting when West Ham (if they get it) play there first game there. http://www.standard.co.uk/olympics/...rack-could-delay-opening-to-2015-7899428.html
I'm sure I have read somewhere that it is in the contract that athletics track has to be incorporated into the stadium regardless who gets it...Not certain though..
West ham wouldn't fill it so it would be half empty a lot of the time IMHO.. Not a good advert for PL footy around the world..
sounds like it and seems like if West Ham get it they will put temp seating over it while the premier league season is on
I tell you what stadium I find a waste in London, Twickenham, actually I find all Rugby own Stadia a waste. They get a few games a year, surely these are the stadia that London clubs looking to move to new stadia should share
Twickenham is a magnificent stadium and it would be great to see it being used for Premiership games.
I was at the Olympic Stadium in May for the British student games. A sort of dummy run for before the main event. It's a magnificent stadium for athletics , but for football it's totally useless. The seats are way to far from the pitch , making it nigh impossible to generate any kind of atmosphere at all. Twickenham stadium on the other hand generates a magnificent atmosphere , but £4-50 for Greene King IPA is a bit steep.
