Yeah, why wouldn't you? Would be a great for their development. I can understand the premier league managers getting upset over their players maybe playing in the Euros and the Olympics, but that's not really something we have to worry about.
Beckham, Beckham he can **** off. SO can Giggs and Scholes. THis is a competition for the youngsters to play in!
Spot on Joey, pointless contest and is asking for injuries to happen just before the new season. If they want to make it a circus by putting Beckham in the squad then so be it, but don't put any real footballers in who actually still have a career ahead of them.
I agree, and what really p*ssed me off was when Beckham was interviewed a couple of months ago, he was asked if he was interested in being in the GB squad, and he responded by saying, `yes, it would be an honour to lead my country`. He`s appointed himself captain, and hasn`t even been picked yet.
I understand that the N.Irish, Scots and Welsh FAs are advising their players not to make themselves for selection, which is pathetic, in my opinion.
I understand why they're doing it, they can't be seen to encourage a Great Britain team in any way, but practically they can't do anything to stop them playing. Bale and Ramsey will certainly play for GB and what are Wales going to do? They can't exactly drop them can they?
Of all the players who could be chosen for the squad, Beckham is the one I most want to see. It's not just a chance to try the youngsters out, it's the Olympics! It's going to be huge and the world will be watching. It's the perfect way for Becks to end his international career.
I thought Beckham's international career had already ended, after all those free caps for little cameo sub appearances towards the end. A few seasons of pub football in LA will have taken the last gloss off what's left of his competitiveness by now so why honour the man further?
He can still do a job and his experience will be useful with all the under 23s. I wouldn't like to see him made captain or even starting though unless he's clearly the best candidate for any particular position. He'll be most useful to get on the ball and control the tempo of games towards the end like he did for England.
It's not just an honour, he's a great player. He may be pretty slow at this point, but he's still the most accurate passer of the ball in the world in my opinion. You have to be pretty good to be wanted by PSG.
I have bought myself and my nipper and his grandad tickets for the GB Team group match at the Millennium Stadium and we're bloody well going to enjoy ourselves! Still on topic, what about this belter of a match? Surely game of the decade? "The AFC-CAF football play-off for the 2012 Summer Olympics will be a football match between the fourth placed team from the Confederation of African Football and the fourth placed team from the Asian Football Confederation. The match will take place at the City of Coventry Stadium in the United Kindom on 12 April 2012"
I don't mind Beckham being in it, its not like we are got to have a good Euro 2012 tournament, so we might as well eat some prawns & clap at Beckhams last lap. Sad, but true.
If you go to the Euro's though, you wont then be going to the Olympics, so that's not even something that the PL managers need to worry about.
Indeed, they made that concession to appease the likes of Wenger, complaining that theo and wilshere would be knackered by two tournaments.
