God no, Junker is a lot less racist with considerably less deaths on his hands (Indian Famine, Irish Black and Tans, Chemical warfare on Kurds etc etc)
So the Indian famine was Churchills fault and nothing to do with Hitler or the Japs stopping the rice imports.strange planet you live on.
Now you are starting to show your true colours. Pointless having a discussion with someone with such anti British sentiments.
It's not anti-British to acknowledge Churchills considerable achievements and considerable deficits. I was taught it by my grandfather who fought in the second world war and then happily voted him out in 1945.
I think Churchill may have had some knowledge of the Atomic bomb, but one must draw the line at Chemical warfare on the Kurds.
So where did Cameron and Remain get their multi millions from then,ow that's right you stole it off the taxpayers didn't you.
So you acknowledge that Churchill made some considerable achievements. That's good. Churchill was a man for his time never forget, without him the western world as we know it(with all its faults) Would have not been worth living in. There are many leaders you could criticise in retrospect regarding the 2nd world war, but one must also ask the question"what would you have done to preserve your own". With regards to you grandfathers information imparted to you whilst I don't know what he told you, remember he was able to excersise his democratic right to vote whichever way he wished because of the likes of Churchill.
Nowhere does it say that Churchill sanctioned using gas on the Kurds. Bombing them, yes. Shooting them, yes, but not gassing them even though he is not shy of using the stuff if he feels it necessary. Read ALL the words, dbc. It's like advertising, you have to read it all very carefully to get the correct meaning. A word here or there can alter the whole meaning of a sentence. Classic example: "Feeding your dog Fido dog Food can help it get a glossier coat". The trigger word is 'can'.
Churchill had brains, common sense and foresight, which is why we won the war........or did you miss it.
History like much of life and politics is morally grey. Very rarely a black and white issue. (Though ironically the second world war is one of the few black and white issues which is why I find the attempt at reclaiming World War 1 as some morally just pursuit instead of needless slaughter so objectionable). I also remember that my grandfather was able to exercise his democratic right because of the likes of my grandfather.
Looks like Brexit wasn't supposed to happen, mmmmmm, wasn't Hillary supposed to win the American election too.
Just to clarify a couple of things: An Empire, Russia and America are also why the war was won (which is not to belittle the vital British contribution) Secondly WE didn't win the war. Unless I've mistaken your age WE had nothing to do with it so stop trying to claim glory on dead mans baggage.
We didn't win the war!......are they goose stepping shouting Sieg Heil where you are then. Churchill convinced Hitler to turn his main forces against Russia on the Russian front. Churchill knew Hitler's forces were not trained in winter warfare, and he was correct. Hitler's forces suffered a big defeat against the Russians because the Germans didn't know how to fight in the snow and cold. If I remember rightly, the Americans came into the war a little late, and only did so cos they needed to get a stepping stone into Europe.
