The story about the train man was not on the BBC website, it was on a local news site (local to him). On it, he said he works shifts of up to ten hours. He did not say he drives his train for ten hours straight. If you think he is telling fibs, take it up with him. I will say it again, this was NOT on the BBC website.

Most train drivers are in ASLEF. The link I gave (just one of many places you can find this fact on the internet) WAS the BBC. I repeat, WAS the BBC.

Dominic (AKA Kevin) himself says drivers work up to 10 hours per shift (or a maximum of 8 if they start before 5am), so you can call him a liar if you like.

RMT does have some members who are drivers but broadly represent train and rail workers in general (you know it's not just the driver that keeps trains running right ?). I can't find the specific link I got earlier with the make up of the RMT membership but if I find it I'll post it for you. Here's the link showing that 96% of drivers are members of ASLEF ;

Labour MPs don't want to declare their financial links to the RMT.
Sometimes Labour MPs make it very obvious why their party hasn’t had the political nous to win a general election in 17 years. Yesterday afternoon Labour York MP Rachael Maskell stood up to ask a point of order, after Grant Shapps had spent an hour having fun pointing out all the Labour MPs who stood up to ask questions in defence of the strikes, without declaring their interests after pocketing thousands from the RMT Union. Following the question session Maskell stood up to complain to the deputy speaker that this was very unfair:

The advice that I received from the Standards Commissioner ahead of that debate, and therefore ahead of today, stated under the requirements for declaration:

a) past financial interests (normally limited to those active within the last twelve months)”.

To paraphrase Eleanor Laing’s no-nonsense response, she told MPs to present the whole truth when representing their union paymasters, not just try and get away without a declaration because of a small technicality in the members’ rule book. A cracking misjudged intervention from Maskell all round…
