Hi AWAYINBC. I'm not sure I can do the match report bit for you as I never remember who did what and when. What I can say is that Argyle started brightly and scored probably much too early if there is such a goal. I think they got a bit nervous at some points in the match and Oxford are probaly one of the better footballing sides I;ve seen at Home Park this season so that is understandable. The equaliser was almost inevitable but saying that I for one don't think we outplayed them or vice versa. It was a decent draw and point and there was little fluke about any of it. I thought we played as well as they did for most of the match.

The celebrations at the end were like a promotion party. Given where we have been all season and the fact we have done the great escape act with a couple of games to go shows that if we had this side of players for ALL of he season we may have done a great deal better. You can understand the relief and the celebrating side of things although if you read other websites the crowd appear to be criticised for it for cheering a **** side and game. I for one was as chuffed as anyone else and it was worth giving it a bit of wellie at the end. Probably a bit early for a beer or two where you are but I've had a couple and suggest you join in when the sun is far enough over the yardarm.

Hopefully now the monkey is off the back we can play a bit now. Would like to see a couple of the youngsters come in for the last couple of games, from memory Purse has an extension clause no too sure on the rest but if we can keep the same defence, get a play maker in midfield and obviously prime target is a goal scorer we should have the core of a good team next year although I would grudingly take mid table if we can put the finances on a stable footing.

I think Darren Purse has been key to our survival this season. Well done that man!

The best thing about securing league football is that next season we will offload a whack of wages and start with more to play with at this level. This will give the manager and Board a lot more to play with and if they get the right people in there is no reason why, with what we have, we can't push on towards the playoffs at least if not better. Another relegation struggle will not be taken lightly by the supporters and if that happened then I think the season after would see a decline in the current love affair.

Purse was a great signing but I would put Blanchard in there as his partner and equally important. Central defence was a huge problem for us and the two together have gelled well and brought a great deal of stability. We need to keep both of them and I hope we do. We need to get rid of Walton in my opinion. No fluke that the performance yesterday was a big improvement and he wasn't even on the bench. We will need loan signings if we can't keep the likes of Hemmings and MacDonald for example. The calibre will need to be good also and it won't be a case next season of having to take anything we are offered because we could not afford not to. Season not quite over just yet so it will be a bit of time before we see who we are likely to have. For once I'm looking forward to a season starting and even the closed season to see who signs and leaves.

I don't have a problem with playing ONE of Walton or Wotton but playing both strips away any creativity. Wotton may be a Green through and through but Walton is younger and a little quicker. We may struggle up front if there is nobody to supply the ammunition in a usable form. Central defence - defence generally looks pretty good but that is also due in part to defensive cover from midfield. If we are going to be successful next season we need a bit more pace and guile going forwards and someone other than Warren Feeney up front. I suspect loan players might again play a part.

Have you seen Walton this season Westernmac? Faster????? The guy has no pace whatsoever and in my opinion no heart either unless it suits him on the day. Wotton may be a bit past his sell by date but out of the two I would take him over Walton everytime and not for sentimental reasons either. Nice to hear from you by the way. Hope you are keeping well.
