One of my memories Was him storming forward and winning a header putting us on attack At the play off final
ALMOST every game his commitment prescence and passion are missing among the current squad - the nearest is Catts but has not got Balls prescence .......
My two favourites are his goal at the Hawthorns when we came from 0-2 down and won 3-2. The second is his clearance from 30 yards at St James' which went the wrong way and crashed off our crossbar, never seen anything like it. He wasn't the most skillful but effort and passion in spade fulls.
That could have been the worst own goal in SAFC's history !, bally was like Cattermole, a get in your face player.
My best experience of Ball was at the Riverside and i was undercover with the Boro fans while he was warming up with the subs. Everytime he ran towards the home end he was giving them the fingers and laughing at them which drove them mad.
