Interesting match review from the Observer yesterday.

Am I the only one who thought we should have had a nailed on pen and that Neuton was onside when he scored?

Anyway, i was fairly encouraged by Saturday's display. While Cassetti looks too slow to start and I wasn't entirely convinced by Neuton i think Forestieri looked class and Chalobah was a revelation in the centre mid position (hard to believe he's only 17). Good to see OneSize get a run out, Pudil is the left back we've been searching for for so long and Vydra must be one of the first on the team sheet each time. With an extra striker - Deeney/Geijo - hitting form we could do some damage. Odd defensive tinkering near the end though....

In short, as someone who was concerned about the size of the squad..whilst it remains something that needs sorting quickly it does look like we've go the nucleus of a very good team there...I hope we get some wins before the pressure starts to mount.

Was that a match report? I think the writer should have come to the match and not writen all the summer news again, and copied our match thread for the minimal match facts she had.

:) It's very rare you get a full and comprehensive match report in any of the national newspapers. It's pretty rare there's much of anything in most of the broadsheets but I also find the red-tops seem to produce reports by rote based on little research. You often find that incidents are misinterpreted or misreported, players are confused and stereotypes resorted to (ie lots of mentions of the long ball game in our case).

Anyway, whilst there's little in the way of facts here I thought it interesting that the size of our sqaud and the problems that causes are being discussed at national levels in the press. Ties in with the "no cliques" article on the Wobby.

It does seem we are 'getting there' and you have a feeling a team may take a bit of a hammering soon. Even though the results aren't what we would wish, it does seem we are creating plenty of chances

As for the newspapers, I tend to ignore their reports as they don't seem to report a great deal about the match and more interested in getting in a few quotes from a player or manager. I gave up on the Mirror years ago as thought their reporting was very biased against us, but my boss had a copy after the Palace match and gave it a go - not a lot has changed. From their report, we somehow won 3-2 after having 1 shot on target, and Palace should have won!

Your right there Kev..usually its a short match report on the Sunday outlining what happened in the game and then Monday is has some random quote from a player or manager.
