One thing I noticed about him last night and more recent games is although defensively hes a bit weak. Going forward he looks like a good player and hes getting an end product. As is Marveuax and this is good news.

If he keeps getting games, assists and puts it in (Hes probs still not 100% match fit) we have a great player at £3 million.

I thinkhe looks like hes enjoying himself too. Hes an ugly bugger like but he looks like hes enjoying playing for us!

Wasn't at the Forest match so I can't comment on that. But what I've seen from our League games is that he can take on and beat several defenders but then do not much else with it afterwards. He is scarily fast and can be exciting because of this, but he has about as much end product confidence as Nile Ranger.

I've been impressed with him. I think I was confusing him with Bebe when we signed him (Bebe's **** right?). He's looked a real threat but is lazy getting back, I'm sure Pardew will drill into him that he needs to work harder for the team, he said he came to play first team football so with Ben Arfa and Marveaux putting pressure on him he should start to pull his finger out.

    <ok>

I've defended him during his first few games here but no way is he better than Marv, Jonas or HBA who are our other options on the wings

Didn't he get two assists? I heard something like that.

I agree though, we need Marveaux in.

Can't really call a 3 yard pass to Simpson to hit a miss-hit cross an assist. The cross for the 4th was good, but other than that he was terrible. For some reason Fergie was moved up front or in a Ben Arfa role and Obertan and Sammy had to play on the left between them. He had a perfect chance when the ball fell to him 12 yards out, no one around him and he tried a stupid volley which went miles over, he never made the effort to get back at all when Forest were attacking down their right. His crossing was poor and he lost the ball on many occasions. Marveaux has to start.

I'm shocked Marveaux hasn't started yet tbh, because I genuinely think he's one of our best players out of our entire team. Our Premier League starting 11 would actually go up a notch in quality and ability with him there, but he's been left on the bench or in cup duties so far.

Marveaux, Ben Arfa and Santon. Three class players who would really make the team we put out a lot better than it is even now with the great results we've been having. When you look at the full squad I'd honestly say we've only been at about 60-70% strength so far.

Totally agree which is promising. It's interesting as to where Benny will come in though. Tiote and Cabaye are the heart of our midfield and Gutierrez has done a good job. Marveaux will come in on one wing which means it looks likely that it will be Benny behind Best?

I liked last night how the hoof ball was almost non-existent for the majority of the game. We played some lovely stuff between our young group of lads. That had to be one of the smallest Newcastle teams in history though.

Pardew has always spoke of putting Ben Arfa behind the hole, so that's no doubt where he'll be. Probably behind Best or Ba.

Never know - might mix it up between away and home games. Two strikers up-front at home, then the addition of Ben Arfa to the midfield in away games.

I say on current form.. Arfa should play behind Best. <ok>

Sounds like it on paper and the more I think about it the more strangely fitting that is in practice. I think Pardew is expecting his confidence to grow as he gets more games, but I'd certainly rather see Marveaux start ahead of him. His speed could make him a good impact sub though.

Still yet to be convinced by him, although his cross last night was first class. However, from what ive seen of him so far,he makes all the difficult things look easy and all the easy things looks difficult. When he tends to have space and time on the ball, thats when he seems to make mistakes and seems to lack confidence but hopefully that will come in time. I do feel that on current form and showing though, that Marveaux should be ahead of him in the starting 11.

  15. I think it's unfair people saying he's poor in defense because he aint.

He's quite good in the air, in terms of winning things and he's a decent height. During the Fulham game and the Sunderland away game, he tracked back quite well and put in a few tackles.

The only thing that's really been poor is sometimes he lacks confidence, but sometimes he'll beat his man and get into the box.

I'm sure as his confidence grows he'll become a better player.

All round good player. Much better than Routledge. He needs more time and is a good squad player. We've given Jonas and Colo long enough to adapt, so i'd give Obertan a bit of time too.

I expect in a years time he may be on the bench quite a lot but i think he'll justify his transfer fee and a bit more, and be good cover and impact player.

Decent enough cover, but won't be in the first XI when everyone is fit. I prefer him in a central attacking role, unless he seriously improves his crossing. Happy to have him in the squad though and he'll get his chances this year.

I've actually been fairly impressed by him. I am not a Jonas fan at all and think he flatters to deceive, also I think he bottles it away from home every time I watch him. Obertan is at least positive and yes his decision making lets him down but give the lad a few games to build his confidence. I think nearly every game he has played for us he has been involved in a goal? I was at the Fulham game and it was his burst and pass to Ba that set up Best for number 2?

Jonas & Marveaux would be my first choice wingers.

Obertan can come on off the bench though, pace could be troublesome if he uses it properly. <ok>

guys he cost 3 million for ****s sake!!... you are all aware of the costs of players these days.. what do you expect from him... i get the impression most expect him to be an instant world beater.. the guy is still young and has been looking promising when hes being playing.. ppl say he never tracks back.. when in his second game he tracked back often and made some amazing tackles.. hes only played a few games for us.. hes 22 years old and has time on his side... hes suffered at his previous club because the club and fans piled huge pressure on him being the next big thing, now we are just doing the same. give the lad a break yes hes stuttered in his progress but wouldn't you signing for man u and having everyone expect you to be the one to eventually fill the void left by Ronaldo. let the lad enjoy his football get the experience and grow into a better player insted of jumping on his back after a handful of starts.
