Over the past few weeks the FA have been holding coaching sessions in this part of Cumbria for girls of all ages, our granddaughter (aged12) who plays in goal for our village girls team took advantage of these sessions and we learnt last night that she has been selected as goalkeeper to represent Westmorland County FA at her age level at a four team tournament next week during half term.

To say we are proud grandparents is a complete under statement, and are looking forward to watching her take part next Friday at Penrith....can't wait.

Well done to her. Was it your coaching that did it? If so can you give Pants a rub down on Sunday.

Well done to your granddaughter mate!

Enjoy the journey, hopefully you will see her one day in the womens premier league for Sunderland...

I'm in Cumbria two days a week at the moment, what part do you live and where does she play? I might catch a game, if you wouldn't mind, granted it would have to be fortunate timing...

She plays for Milnethorpe under 13s, which is just south of Kendal, locally they are trying to attract girls to football and at the moment she plays on an ad hoc basis, maybe once a month in a round robin format which means she will play four games back to back always on a Sunday. They are just settling into having a regular number of girls turning out, this is her second season so who knows where she will end up, what I do know is for a girl her age she is quite fearless and doesn't mind taking a few knocks. Thanks to you all for the nice comments it's greatly appreciated.
