I am reliably informed that Pete and Strangeways are performing at the Polar Bear tonight, Sunday.

I wish I could be there, as he's got a lot of talent.

Oh - and I think it'll have a late finish (but not sure, so don't count on it!).

Polar Bear update: ****ty carpet gone, so back to parquet flooring; ceiling re-done, tastefully; new landlady; upcoming music policy, in New Year.

I haven't seen Pete 'this is a number' Stitt for years, my band supported Strangeways back in the day.

I like the Botanic.........but always find it weird.

(It's a good spot to cut to, out of the PB, if you need to talk without the world knowing your business).

I hear they played a blinder. After the first set of their own stuff, they did solid rock 'n' roll.

They had all ages up and dancing!!

What was the name of your band OLM? I recorded/produced a lot of bands around that time including sessions with Pete & Strangeways. Some of us still gig regularly in Hull all those years on...nice to see Pete make return!

Stan, I gig with John Cambridge occasionally and he recalls those days with the Mandrakes with some fondness.

    OLM

If you made a comeback you'd have to change your name...

    ... 'Savile's Travels' perhaps? Lol

I was ten when they released the album in 1970, however, I remember a classmate at Marist College having a cassette tape of some of these tracks. Tried to listen but not in a good place to get a constant right now! I'm meeting up with my band mates who were contemporaries of Red Dirt over in the National pub at 9.00pm. I'll be asking questions ... Will get back to you

No Chazz but I know who you mean. I gig at the Nash occasionally (my fiancée lives nearby and I'm staying in Hull over Xmas). Our drummer is known as Durango ... We know him as 'sing the harmony you Cnut'. The Nash is his 'office' You in there tonight?

I wish mate. The mrs won't stand for that anymore on Xmas eve!!

Seen mike Rodgers play in the Nash a few times, excellent guitarist, I not you is it?

Rod plays in Nash now and again with like a who's who of local 'old faces'.

The juices are flowing now may try and sneak out with the dog for a walk, see if I can still trick her......

I'll be a hostage to fortune here announcing this, but I play with The Tin Soldiers (we were there about 3 weeks back) and I'm about to stand down after 13 months with The Casablanca Boys. I do know the band/guys you refer to though! If you sneak out we'll be in the lounge part halfway down. I'll be in there tomorrow lunch as well. It'll be good to say hello at some point.

I quite like the idea of walking by the window in a flat cap, mac and glasses ala Eric morecambe tho!!

You shoulda said about the band I woulda come in if I'd known.

Oh the bar man Callum is a Leeds fan so give him some abuse. Have a good night and a good Xmas.

The Casablanca Boys? Steve Larkman, Danny Woods (or is he gone?), Dane Morell. Maybe Phil Oaten (sp?). ????
