Thanks for posting this, would never had known otherwise.
A strange lad, but some great music, eg Joy of a Toy and Shouting in a Bucket.
    RIP

Sad loss. Saw them 3 times in late 60's / early 70's after Ayre had left.Loved the sound of Mike Ratledge on organ (Hammond ?) and Elton Dean on alto sax. Not too sure about Robert Wyatt's singing though.

Sadly only saw them once, but Moon in June remains one of my favorite tracks (despite the singing!)

Guys I present a 70s music programme every Saturday at 1.00pm and to honour Kevin Ayers I'm going to kick off with a couple of tracks by him this week. They have to be from the 70s (obviously) so they can't be from the wonderful Joy of a Toy LP I'm afraid, so over to you what would you play? Let's see if we get a consensus...I'll credit you with the choices!

    What say you?

Ha ha ha it's only for Charadee mate. No, I wish I could be the Emperor Rosko but sadly not up to that. I do have Rosko name checking me though in the programme. I'm more Bob Harris/Johnny Walker end of the presenting spectrum than Smashey and Nicey...so no BTO this week but can do that for next week if you do happen to want to hear them - name your track? Please note I pre-record the show on the Thursday/Friday though, otherwise I'd struggle to get to home games!

Des is that the one from the album Rainbow Takeaway?

EDIT: Ignore this - I found the LP and it'll be in and I'll credit you under your nom de plume from the site

    Cheers

Stan, I'll be kicking of with this track - good call! If he'd released The Joy Of A Toy just one month later then The Clarietta Rag would have been a shoe in...

I'll credit you under your nom de plume and from the site...cheers B

I love how he made out to be a raggy-arsed poor-boy, but was quite 'posh'!
