So I've never looked out for their results, or anything, but it highlighted the (growing) chasm in the sport today to see this - when Rooney recently negotiated a new personal deal worth circa £300k a week.

He, and many other top players, could afford to sort this out - and not even miss the cash. Sad times, and (presumably) the gap will continue to widen :emoticon-0106-cryin

Any idea how they got into that position? Much as it's a fairly nominal amount to a footballer, the likes of Rooney paying it off as a PR exercise doesn't encourage sound financial planning from the club. If it's from no fault of their own though, it would be nice to see the top teams/players looking after the littler guys.

Real shame. I've got a lot of family from Hereford so I've always had a soft spot for them. It is shocking the gulf in money between the haves and have nots.

I don't like this argument, its like saying that the corner shop has gone bankrupt, Tesco should pay for it to stay open. If they want to continue to trade they need a far more sustainable plan.

I agree bath but it does underline the ludicrous state of the game at large and the chasm between the haves and have nots. The chasm is far too wide whichever way you look at it and it will continue to grow.

It appears to be the usual HMRC reason. There are more details in this blog - including a mention for our very own Gary Hooper? :emoticon-0112-wonde (3rd para HUSSA help the bulls)
