Presume Wilson will come in if LT doesn't make it. I will be interested to see how Wilson performs with Fonts moving left side. I'm not sure of Wilson yet but hope he 'steps up' because at the very least we will be better balanced across the back. I hope Wilson is good enough and takes his chance because Nyatanga isn't the answer.
Red, I know you have doubts about Nyatanga but he's played all through the recent games so Del must like what he sees and the blokes still young.Perhaps he'll end up being like Lucas at Liverpool,Slated for a season then player of the year the season after. He's worth taking a chance on developing into a quality defender.
Somehow, I though Redprintt would post another negative thread, Lewin Nyatanga has played so well under Del Boy & now RP appears pleased he may be out injured. If LN is out for saturdays game, I hope Wils performs well & even keeps his place, if that happens then he will be performing superbly to keep LN out of the side. For gods sake Red, start looking on the bright side for a change.
Now back in sunny but cold Portugal after 5 great days in Bristol and Watford. Against Southampton, the performance was one of the best in the last three seasons and it would not be fair to single out any one or more individuals. It was a great team performance which everyone at City should be proud of. And so to Watford. Firstly an exceptional turn out of City fans for a late November Tuesday evening. 10% of the gate against Saints. As for the match, we all know how difficult it is to consistently attain that level and we should realise that the physical and emotional effort put in by everyone on Saturday meant that we were not as "up for it" as we all would have wished. Yet there were some very good things in the match. Lewin Nyatanga had a superb evening winning so much to minimise the attacking threat and I have not been his biggest fan. I think we could miss him this Saturday, although I have a lot of confidence in James Wilson; Cisse mopping up in front of the back four; the way we now hold onto the ball for long spells to frustrate the opposition who in this case wanted to hoof it forward at every opportunity. Where the mental and physical tiredness showed most was in the last twenty minutes when we continued to play keepball about 20 yards outside their box without looking like we knew or wanted to get a shot at goal. I think Watford were there for the taking and a bit more adventure late in the game could have secured another two points. However before anyone thinks I'm complaining, I did say last week that 4 points from the two games would be a very good harvest. Just that I thought it would be 2-2 against Southampton and a win at Watford. finally, I agree with others now commentiong that Middlesboro' may be a harder challenge than Southampton. Their away record with 5 wins and 2 draws out of 9 matches is excellent and thus I feel we may very well end up with a draw. I hope the "special software" will allow me to see the game on my computer, otherwise it's good old radio Bristol. COME ON YOU REDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDS!
I actually think very highly of young Wilson. I watched him quite closely in the few games he played and I think that his positional play and reading of the game has the potential to match a certain Spurs defender that we had here last year and that is BIG praise indeed. He needs games of course but I just think he will get better and better the more he plays. In that vein, I really do hope that Ribs can stay injury free as if he can, I think that he has part to play in our future as well - after all, someone who Everton offered £500k for before he had even played a league game can't be too shabby and this was borne out by his early appearences. I think it may be all about the mentality following his injury that decides his future with us cos he's a pretty decent player...
well i can see Carey getting the nod, something about Wilson that bugs me is he makes mistakes that shoots us in the foot, the pass at Cardiff for example gave it straight to there player they then went on to score there 2nd, away at Blackpool his marking was terrible, on this one i think we should give Stewart or Carey the position and keep Wilson on the bench
After the Watford game DM said that he would be making a couple of changes. Given the two goals it made me wonder if there would be changes at the back and maybe one in midfield to give some more flair on the left
BJA 'If LN is out for saturdays game, I hope Wils performs well & even keeps his place' Please stop repeating what I say and think for yourself. A Dicks puts up with it - I won't. Have another read, I also wrote - 'the very least we will be better balanced across the back' - You haven't got a clue.
Well it looks like DM is forced to make his first change at the back, does he go for inexperience (Wilson) or experience (Carey or Stewart), if he goes for Wilson, then he's seen on the training ground, the potential this young man has. If he performs well, maybe LN will have a job to get his place back, personally i think LN will get his place back, but time will tell. RP, i certainly don't put up with what BJA says, i've been around for 68yrs, i think i'm old enough, and wise enough, to make my own mind up about people's posts.
'RP, i certainly don't put up with what BJA says, i've been around for 68yrs, i think i'm old enough, and wise enough, to make my own mind up about people's posts' AD - I can agree with the above comment other than 'and wise enough'. Self-praise is no recommendation. Me - I know everything !
