I got talking to a Watford fan on the way back to the station and he said their fans were delighted when ASM came off, it means we have zero threat and they could just pile forwards without worrying about the counter attack, he's right.

Yeah alright, but Sissoko basically missed an own goal before that.

The issue is the two CBs, not anything else.

We still need someone mobile in midfield. Shelvey and Longstaff play walking football

This was so obvious yesterday, how ****ing slow were we just to pass the ball to each other, by the time we worked it to ASM he was already closed down.

Just poor players, you've got to pass the ball quickly to create space and chances.

It's both, we are dire in both positions, Schar and Joelinton are the only ok players in both positions, we are so short.

Schar is ok in a good defence but not who you want to be relying on when surrounded by crap defenders

He's ok in a back 5. He's awful in a back 4. Defensively he's the same as our other defenders. The reason he shines in a back 5 is because of his roaming out.

Yes he'd look better with a better defence around him but then you'd hope the others would too

I was actually reasonably impressed with the first half performance, apart from the finishing. We pressed pretty high up the pitch and stopped them playing any football. Longstaff was playing much more forward and had obviously been told to support the front 2 and it was working pretty well. Even though we didnt score we controlled the first half and the possession stats showed how on top we were.

The problems actually started when we scored. The central midfield seemed to step about 10yards back and suddenly there was space there for Watford to play it out from the back and through midfield. Our midfield was basically neutralised and our defence was exposed (which isn't a good thing with the lack of pace we have there).

I can't figure out who tells them to do this. We don't have the players to carry out game management so we would be better just going with the original plan and keep pressing.

Seemed inevitable that they were going to get an equalizer then and we were probably lucky not to lose in the end.
