Following todays comments from the manager, I am not very conviced as he is saying that we still need a striker to replace Maynard and will be checking the market so looks like he might be putting the blame on the strikers but think we can all agree that the strikers that have played have had no service from the rest of the team so it doesn't matter who you bring in to play up front they will struggle. We currently has Chris Wood who averages about 1 goal every 2 games and since he has joined us that average is starting to come down. We have missed Marv but whether it was a lack of match fitness or he wasn't fully recovered but he must feel slightly to blame for the first two goals as he let his markers go who scored the goals. I think we are short at the back and we have probably one of the worse midfields in the league and until it is improved we will struggle. The season we got to the playoffs we had a balance midfield of wide players who could take the ball forward and put crosses in. Marv who sat deep, won the ball and bossed the midfield. LJ who strength was to pass the ball?! and Noble who got forward and supported with a bit of skill. which meant we won games even though Byfield didn't get in to double figures on goals. It proved then that a 5 man midfield can work with the right balance something we lack. I am starting to losing faith in the current board structure at the club I love as something is wrong. We have one of the best up and coming managers but I don't think the structure is there to support him in what he needs to do. Hopefully they can sort it out in the summer.
We just need to get enough points to survive in the Championship this season period. Whatever Del needs to achieve that position of safety should be made available to him. Completely agree that the board are the major contributors to this mess. For me the vast majority of players currently on the books can go.
