I know we have to win our games, goes without saying, but I have no clue right now how I want the next 2 Norwich games to turn out. Newcastle then Palace. Answers on a post card. 2 draws?
Beat West Brom. If you do that then whatever happens in other games is a side show, they won't relegate you if you play well enough to stay up. Be lovely to see Palace go down mind.
Sadly I have given up relying on my own team. I would also love Palace to get dragged down but not at the expense of a Norwich win.
I'm finding it best not to even ponder and accept the hand we're played. There's no real ideal outcome to these two games, They're out of our hands but our own results are in our hands. It's going to be very tough to work out what results are good to whom, we're all playing each other. April is a big month and it would take a clever fella to predict the state of the table at the start of May accurately for the final run in.
If we stay up it would be a miracle but any from Palace Mackems Geordies & Canarys are **** enough. I hate Big Sam but Raffle I hate more.
To be honest the Chumpionship was quite fun especially the Wembley win against Boro. I'm not too fussed if we have to do it all over again apart from the stupid money on offer next year but that doesn't do much for me as a fan we will still struggle if we survive losing most weeks.
I expected that result today. Bottom line is it was important not to get beat. 3 wins in the next 3 games for me. 2 home games, West Brom are beatable and then we play Leicester, you would say an instant loss but we are at home, they are going to have a wobble soon and our style of play will not suit their counter attacking style. Norwich will then be like a cup final, win that and we will stay up. When you look back over the last few matches we have played well and been really unlucky: City we played well and lost, West ham the same. Very unlucky to draw with Southampton, beat Man U and good draws vs Liverpool and Palace. To be honest we played worst in those 2 draws but showed a bit of determination to get something from those games. Sides playing badly go down and we are not playing badly. By all accounts I have read we were a bit unlucky not to get 3 points today.
Very similar to Sunderland that - it was quite enjoyable in Championship but you've got to strive to be best you can - not accept second rate -onwards with BSA for us atm
I had the Mags and Norwich games down as must wins to kick our survival off, now that we have missed out on one the other is essential. Key games now for the mags and canaries is against Palace, who just about play everybody involved with relegation or trophy top four hunting. Meanwhile we could get by on default lines if we get a few wins against Leics Arsenal etc. Turned out nice again.
Thing is the money for getting relegated is still massive. Parachute payments are quite hefty too so teams that are prepared will be ok. We have always put relegation wage clauses in. Nature of the beast. Guess you lot will have too, s will Bournemouth and probably Watford. Don't know about anyone else. Most had higher expectations so didn't bother. Although that last sentence is pure speculation and opinion. The scary thing about the premier league at this moment. The bottom three teams have, between them, won the league title a combined 17 times. The same amount as the top three combined and Leicester have never won it (hopefully first time this year!). #fallfromgrace
I know it's stating the obvious but we have to avoid defeat at Norwich, win our game in hand and match Norwich's results and we will be safe, can't see the Mags staying up, unfortunately our game in hand is not played until the last week of the season, so a lot of nail biting to come, but it wouldn't be normal for our lot to avoid this annual scrap for safety which in the end might just see us over the line.
palace's next four fixtures are West Ham(a), Norwich(h), Arsenal(a), Man Utd(a) which are quite daunting bearing in mind their current form, if we can keep picking up points in the next four fixtures then Palace could be right in the mix for the last few fixtures.
By law of averages you'd expect them to sneak a win from somewhere, they've beaten the likes of Spurs and Saints away in the FA Cup so surely they've got a win left in them, but that Norwich game is huge, if they lose that the pressure may get to them. It's nice watching Pardew crack every week though
I hear what your saying Tel but those four fixtures are against teams that are fighting for something special and not fielding weakened teams like the bigger clubs do in the FA Cup, everyone can beat each other in this, league as has been proved this season but in the, sort of league form Palace are in these are seriously difficult fixtures for them.
There will be a few iffy results yet. Some mid table teams are on the beach now. Are they gonna give 100% and risk a broken leg before the summer break? I think not. I believe we will be OK but we do need a few clean sheets in the coming weeks otherwise mine wont be
I hate to say it but I think Palace will be OK, they have enough in their squad to win a game or two and that is all they need.
I haven't really considered them involved in the relegation fight. They're still about 3 wins away for at least us and the mags, maybe 2 wins for Norwich? Just 1 win for them would mean us having to win half our remaining games to catch them. Maybe that'll change in the next couple of games, but at the moment they're not in my equation.
