Had a few beers with mad Norman before the 2005 FA cup final v Arsenal. We were up stairs in La Tasca and Norm saunters, well sways, up the stairs clutching a bottle of Rioja and one glass. He was sound, still got the pics on an old phone upstairs. Polished off his bottle quicker than I did a bottle of Cruzcampo! Then met Dennis Irwin in the pub after the game and told him, in a nice little rant, what a bunch of ****ers Arsenal were playing for pens. He was less impressed as he had his young son with him!
I ****ing loved Norman. I was meant to meet him as he was Meant to be a speaker at an after match dinner and Didnt turn up. That said it was a result as I complained and got the free hospitality tickets to the Munich anniversary game.. Where I embarrassed myself infront of mark robins and met Clayton ..
He did one down the Liberty I went to, he was pretty good to be fair. Wasn't on the piss then. Nobby Stiles' son was the comedian. He was merely ok. Less funny than Norm really, who was clearly dead nervous.
