Off Topic Non-Sunderland games

we were told at the time that italian football was the best in the world, i watched quite a few of the games on ch4 and a pattern soon emerged...both teams would basically p1ss about with keep ball then one would get the ball and race into the box late in the game, usually going flying to get a free kick/penalty to win the game.

the card gestures after every slight tackle and the screaming in the refs face originated in italy, as did the diving...really put me off despite the fact there were some very skilful players at the time.

 

At the time they had the absolute superstars of the game, Maldini, Del Piero, Ronaldo (the proper one), Batistuta, Rui Costa, Boban, Zanetti, Signori, Mancini, Totti, Zola, Weah, the list goes on and on..... Bit they managed to be a bit boring with all that talent somehow, which is some achievement tbf

 

pretty much what put me off, all that skill yet they chose to fall over a lot...i could not fathom it all.

 

Yep, to limit those type of players to a 1-nil win was some 'achievement' tbf. They had it all and could have stolen a march on the premier league but they blew it by rolling around and having negative tactics. Such a shame. (and I haven't named half of the players from that era tbf. Bobby Baggio is one )

...and a few blew it even further by going bust or getting into serious financial problems, i mean, i don't mind watching other sports if there is something to admire but when you watched them lot rolling over like an egg down a hill at easter it was pathetic...for example, i loved watching 'the windies' back in the 80's even though they took us to the cleaners most games.

 

Their stadiums were dropping to bits after Italia 90 as well, not just the clubs. Milan are a giant of European footy but haven't been anywhere near challenging for the CL for about 15yrs.

 

Zlatan hasn't had a kick......winning goal incoming....

 

Should’ve won but I was disappointed with their display after they started making subs. Cracking game overall, really enjoyed it

 

Very good game. Might watch a bit more of serie A based on that tbh. Inter just shaded it imo and probably deserved a win but Milan have some good players, haven't watched them for a good few years tbf. All in all, quite an enjoyable game.

very good half that mind...couple of dodgy passes along the way but overall i am really enjoying it...not seen a single 'pretendy injury' or anyone rolling round as if shot, is it 2 or 3 balls out the ground so far?

 

Medical emergency in the crowd, physio's are on trying to help the person. Hopefully they are ok.

 

think the 2nd half was a bit flat, maybe the tv cameras had them all running mental to make an impression...top work from fans, players and officials as well as all medical staff when the supporter needed help.

chants of the night...'just a small town in watford' from somewhere not exactly the biggest around the manchester area and my fave was the very much lone voice 'your support is f@ckin sh1t'
