Andrea Pirlo is to retire at the end of the MLS season in December. A truly sublime player, who proved it time and time again over a very long career. A player I loved to watch, especially when he was at AC Milan.

To do this when your team is trailing in a penalty shoot out is coolness personified.

Yes this was a master of football no doubt

My son watched him earlier this year in NY and said his pre match introduction on the big screens to the crowd included words like craftsman and also included information about his wine company.

Great player and bloody nice chap. Had the good fortune to meet him after the 2014 Italian Super Cup Final here in Doha

Had time and patience for everyone

Bright bloke too. Here’s what he said in response to the fiasco when Milan let Liverpool beat them in Istanbul.
“There are always lessons to be found in the darkest moments. It's a moral obligation to dig deep and find that little glimmer of hope or pearl of wisdom. You might hit upon an elegant phrase that stays with you and makes the journey that little less bitter. I've tried with Istanbul and haven't managed to get beyond these words: for ****'s sake.”

Joe Hart was simply awful on that penalty shoot out anodised the whole thing as a video opportunity

Pirlo showed the world what a useless keeper he has become

The reason for Joe Harts downturn has to be squarely placed on Col's shoulders

Not hard to do, in fact, it's very easy to do, to wind up England, and especially when you have Hart in goal <laugh>
