You wouldn't get a studio flat in London for £260k. I looke in an Estate Agents window in Kensington recently, and saw one propert under £200 grand. It was a garage, £186k.
Oh yeah, I'm not comparing to London, but compared to the rest of the country Bristol is definitely one of the more expensive places and already there are a lot of people moving out of London here in anticipation of this new rail line. From memory it is something like an hour from Bristol to Paddington on this train which is appealing to a lot of people as an hours commute is **** all compared to what people do in London. I personally get ****ed off if my commute is longer than about half an hours walk, but that is why I never moved to London. An ex girlfriend of mine lived in Kensington and it is just another world, she lives in Knightsbridge now but it is the same ****. I used to hate visiting there, just felt like ****s rubbing money in your face. The amount of super cars I saw being driven by 17/18 year olds with super model birds in the car with them was sickening. I was jealous as **** so never want to go there again.
Used to do van deliveries round Kensington and Chelsea. On a Saturday morning, you'd frequently hear the roar of super car engines, as they cruised up and down the Kings Road, but it seemed mad to me - you'd never get those ****ing things out of 2nd gear in London. Nearly all the women round there are stunning, but all the ones over 40 have had that many facelifts, they daren't smile in case their face falls off.
.... many have had so many facelifts that they now have beards ... which therefore makes them look gay and so defeats the object
I grew up near a place called the Pepys estate in Deptford. Back in the 70's and 80's it was an utter ****hole and people used to fight tooth and nail to get out of there. It was riddled with crime, drugs, anti social behaviour and was a no go area after dark, proper horrible inner city council estate. I was back in London a few years ago and saw a flat for sale, ex local authority on the Pepys estate, the agent's blurb was 'Stunning 3 bed flat on 8th floor, commanding views of the River Thames, 02 Arena etc, in sought after riverside location'. It was up for just shy of £400k. I know since then there's been loads of 'yuppie' flats built around the estate that sell for £650k+ Absolute madness, property developers are gradually pushing all of the poor people out of London.
I had an opportunity to buy my 2 bed flat in Lee Green around 20 years ago for £75k but I decided to move out of London at the time. It was a really nice place too, top floor of a 3 story victorian house, with bay windows and a balcony, tall ceilings etc. Lovely old house with a huge shared back garden with an old word war II air raid shelter in it. That place would probably go on the market today for £500k
This seems a good price. Superb location. How much in your neck off the woods? http://www.cooperlets.co.uk/properties/liddell-court-north-haven/
They don't all have sea locations. You get one with sea views you usually pay extra. If thats the price mate sounds good to me. Waking up to blue skies over a calm sea is pretty cool. Sitting there with a beer watching the north sea battering the piers is awesome!!
I know the apartment. It's only 5 minutes away. Not sure about the calm sea bit like.. This is what its been like recently. Half the old small pier has gone. Even so, great views, especially for the air show please log in to view this image
I remember being there one Sunday evening when a young lad had been swept off the pier. Must have been around 74/75/76. We were sat up by the cafe watching the helicopter and boats out looking for the lad inside the piers in the dark and I was shocked by everyone's excitement about all the **** going on. That scarred me for quite a while.
