Barmby has been told that no one is leaving in the January window,a very bold (and reassuring)statement with the likes of Leicester and Premier League clubs sniffing around our young stars. If that can be achieved and we add one or two new faces, even if just for cover, then we have a genuine oppertunity of another promotion.Dare to dream and all that, light the Tigers eyes on the scoreboard and hold on to your hats,it's going to be an exciting second half of the season!!!!
Unless a mid table prem team comes in with a decent offer or someone offers stupid money it would be pointless for any of your players to leave mid season. They would be best of leaving at the end of the season if you dont get promoted
Or the manager for that matter, didn't stop him did it? Pound signs can change all that, especially the size your lot have dished out,it turns heads and once they are turned it's sometimes difficult to turn em back.
If the players actually think promotion is a possibility then they could line their pockets by staying as well. IMO i dont think you squad is too far off becoming a play off team, you just need a decent striker to partner Matty. Because he will either score for fun or wont be able to hit a cows arse, theres not much middle ground with Fryatt
Good post, hope it turns out that way.I would love to see these players grow as a team. Personally I'd like to see a big guy up there to hold it up and connect with our wingers and fullbacks crosses,Stewart sent in a couple of world class crosses in today with no one around to take advantage. Henderson looked the right type to profit, thought he looked decent. Matty had one wrongfully,IMO,called offside today and he seems to be at the top of his game since Nige left but as you rightly point out we've seen him get into mini streaks then mini droughts. Can't see him in the PL for too long if he gets the chance but I've said that before about players and have been proved wrong.
Imagine our current starting 11 but swapping Fryatt for Sharp? Matty has a habit of missing a number of sitters which I think BS would finish
Fryatt should have scored today. That chance in the first half had goal written all over it. Yet again he took too many touches. Don't get me wrong I love him to bits and I think his all round play is brilliant. Apparently his goal wasn't even offside.
Chances are imaganing is probably the nearest we'll get but I like the thought,Matty is clever though with his positioning in and around the box and gets chances BS wouldn't necessarily have. Just get the feeling the Adkins link and the fact the expected pin hasn't pierced their bubble could persuade him to go.
I'm not sure if we need to find a striker to partner Matty, I think we need someone to challenge him or replace him. Playing 4-4-2 would mean breaking up our brilliant of late central midfield three of McKenna, Evans and Koren. Playing Koren next to Evans/McKenna or putting him on the wing would also mean either disrupting the balance of the team or wasting one of our best players out wide. Therefore if we are going to buy a new striker it'll be a replacement for Fryatt or a wide striker who'll take McLean's slot in the team.
With todays formation it would have to be.We'd have to change formation to accomodate both. But in a flat 442 I reckon McLean would be the one or Evans in a diamond.
in Jan i hope we sign to improve the bench - tho this is a hard ask or just to replace any first team players that may be lured to the prem. I agree , this team is very good in its current shape and going to a 442 to give Fryatt a strike partner would be detrimental to what our current strengths are- Wide play and Korens position in the hole. At the mo , nothings broken and so long as the club doesnt sell , theres nothing to fix is there ?
but how exciting would it be to have fryatt and sharp as a strikeforce with koren breaking from midfield. May be a dream
