Anyone else think Sess is Bents replacement?

I think we need one more esp. with Campbell out till months and Gyan off to ACN (I know we have Jan window before then) even if its onloan maybe Carlos Vela?

I think what we have is what we'll start with.

Over a month left in the window. Although a top quality left mid is a bigger priority in my opinion.

I think we should just remember how much we have done in this window so far and relax a little. Plenty of time to add two more to the squad and as the window closes there could be the opportunity to pick up a bargin as clubs try to off load to buy some one else. So lets all have a drink and chill

We are a striker short IMO and we will suffer without one coming in before August is out.

I think we will be a powder puff with only Gyan as the experienced striker. If we throw Wickham to the wolves we will play into the hands of the critics that have said he will struggle at Sunderland. He's only 18 lads. A year in the EPL as back up will see a very different player next term but dont put that much pressure on him this season.

I think we may well take a punt on DJ Campbell for £1.5m and make a last offer for you know who on the wing. At least that way, we will have plenty of striking options.

I totally agree, we have no real cutting edge at all.

But I still think a new arrival is possible if we offload one or two or three ...

Bruce has said today that he doesn't want to put pressure on Dong-won and Whickham and wants to give them time to develop. Without another striker he will be applying pressure to both, Why? ... because an injury to Gyan means having to play one of them up front with Sess playing off them. The likes of Vidic and Terry will eat them alive and we will be back into the same scenario that led to the awful slump in the second half of last season.

That, is not going to happen, Why? ... because Ellis Short and Niall Quinn won't let it. They have acknowledged that the squad needs more depth and experience as well as a blend of youth if they are going to improve again and better 10th place, or attempt to get into europe. Whickham is for the future, yes a major investment, but not for 2011-12. Equally, Dong-won is for the future and a canny acquisition to increase our profile in Korea and the far east. Gyan must have a quality player to play alongside and/or replace him when injured.

    For me? Pogrebynak

agreed with you till you said Pogrebnyak

If Gyan gets injured cannot see Pog coming in and getting the goals think we need a top quality striker who can get 10+ goals a season

players like that though cost money so Brucie will have to get the cheque book out unless he goes into the loan market

What's this Wickham is only a young lad bollocks?

He''s 18, big as ****, needs to play, and an instant hero come derby day.

Agree, he's got to play & not just catch splinters, otherwise the money would've been spent elsewhere. I'm sure as can be we'll get ONE striker in before the window closes to take the pressure off mid-season. A huge gamble IMO to risk otherwise. Bruce knows his balls are on the line if it goes tits up like last January & even his distractors would agree he’s not quite that thick.
