Maybe it was Sarries coming back
or maybe the spin in the wobby is true
or maybe Mr B had no intention of doing it anyway !
I am sure we will find out more as the next few weeks go by! whether he keeps his word(the original statement) or not!
Any way we need to teach our players how to play football on a cabbage patch!

i think this is the best decision in money terms. If we had replaced it now, who is to say that after 6 months of the sarries playing on it, the pitch is crap anyway. Also with the fact that there are going t be games on it in the comming month or so, will there be enough time for it to grow properly. I know its not ideal and i would much prefer to have a new pitch. But its good to see they are doing the next best thing.

Looks sensible and reasoned, the Simpson experience has left us all wary of promises though eh? Ringfenced finance blah blah blah, lets see how the improvement measures work and look forward to a slopeless vic in 2012-13

This was a comment from Theo that he left in the nest
Oh, so it's a plastic bag and a light bulb is it? Not too costly for Mr B then.

So thats the new revenue plan is it? Maybe do some "herbal" planting with the extra light and controlled growing conditions, "the vicarage hash farm"

Given that Saracens will be here next season, can't really complain at this. Expect a new pitch next summer come hell or high water though.

Amen NNW! Let's hope so...though a year is a long time, so much can happen, owner-wise, between now and then!

It seems like they've committed themselves to relaying it next season...so they hopefully won't go back on their words.

I don't care if we're relegated on the pitch, docked two divisions for doing what QPR allegedly did but not being able to disprove it, and spend the following season denying Luton Football League action for yet another year. Frankly, I don't care if all of that happens, and Dasani has to remortgage his family home to get it done. The pitch has got to come at the end of the coming season.

Whatever level you're playing at, you can't build a club on young, small, technically gifted players, and hope to compete by playing passing football on a mole's paradise, or by playing hoofball. Doesn't matter how good the manager is, it simply will not work in the long term.

I don't want any of that to happen.

If Saracens are here relaying the pitch will be a waste of money. One more year and then it MUST be done

I don't like the thought that flies through the mind.... I really cant see saracens getting planning consent for Barnet, so one then comes to question why have our ex lady mayoress on the board of Watford Football Club Ltd? There is something going on and I fear that Sarries and Watford FCL are tighter than we the general public know. Viccy road always needs to be a stadium but if the football books don't balance who can you sell it to? Answer a Rugby club, the asset has good value and if we get sticky on the repayments to LA I cant see an easier source of revenue than mortgaging or selling it off (of course it would have to pay off the debts in full). As I say theres something going on here, hope it is a case of stick by their word but so far thats not been worth diddly. The profitable end game for this for Sarries could involve a planned liquidation. Is it time to start a Man U type protest and revert to the old watford colors?

Christ Aberdeen thats a scary one , are you suggesting Copthall is a smokescreen and Mr B is acting for the sarries ownership?

Rugby has not killed the pitch - its the lack of maintenance that has. Can you imagine running a car yet never replacing the tyres or brakes. The pitch is an asset which is built for both sports and comes with a detailed maintenance schedule.

It is just that the owners have decided to cut corners on the maintenance.

It is similar to the A + B section of the main stand, 2 years ago the family area could have been moved there for £20k. It was decided not to spend the money, hence the problems with the away fans. Most of these problems can be resolved, but we have the legacy of many wrong decisions.

However I still fear Sarries could buy the ground off us.

I don't think anyone disagrees with you Elixir but having Sarries there has not and will not help
