...according to reports which claim Anderlecht won't budge on their £15m valuation (due to owing his former Serbian club a substantial percentage).

Also being reported that Oliviera might come back for another year...

...and we are vying for Okaka with Leeds United.

    Not all can be true. Possibly/probably none of it....but what do you all think;

Should we stump up £15m for Mitrovic?
Who else could we sign for £10-12m (if that is our upper limit)?
Would you welcome another loan for Oliviera?
Okaka is an "Italian International", so why do Leeds think they can sign him....should we be in for him?

Apart from Mitrovic, the other 2 are way below what we want or need to strengthen our striking options. If we could afford Mitrovic I would go for it.

Okaka is ****e want him nowhere near our club and don't Leeds have Italian owners, maybe a link there.

Signing a 15 million pound striker means he has to play so if we did I expect more tantrums from Gomis , unless of course he's on his way

Oliviera back on loan, uninspiring and TLF, I agree if true, wtf are we doing looking at Okaka, he's a championship player at best hence Leeds' interest.

Such a shame about Mitrovic but its been on the cards all week.

Anderlecht are playing hard-ball like a bunch of amateurs and keep upping the 'agreed' asking price. Now they have magically turned the asking price from €15m into £15m .

Doubt Jenkins will return to the table this time as, allegedly, this is the second time Anderlecht have gone back on themselves after a hand shake agreement. Originally the asking price was for €12m, this miraculously grew to €15m. this is where Newcastle allegedly bailed but since then the asking price has morphed from € to £ and now stands at a whopping £15m (almost €21m).

This is a ridiculous sum to ask for any 20yo regardless of potential and we know Jenkins wont play these games and has withdrawn all interest in the player.

There is a tiny, minuscule glimmer of hope though as Mitrovic's agent apparently wanted him to come here and is, allegedly, spewing about the way Anderlecht are treating his prodigy (great band by the way) in a bid to milk the deal. Time will tell how loud he can shout but I doubt Jenkins will pay a cent over the original asking price of €12m now, so deal is more or less dead.

For £15 million I'd rather Charlie Austin. At least he's proven in this league.

I kinda had a feeling about Oliveira still being with us when I saw the new kit being advertised on the club website with his name and number being used as part of the images on the day of release....

I've no problem with him being added to the squad , a player with bags of potential , with time on his side + the signing of Beattie as a coach then this could turn out to be a good deal .Not the stella signing we were expecting though but Jenkins won't be held to ransom so unless Anderlecht start playing the game they could end up with an unsold player who wants away .

I am not asking for a big Stella signing, but surely we can do better than Oliviera. We have to move on and not stand still.

Why assume Mitrovic will be our no1 striker, can't see him ousting Gomis easily. I believe Monk will run with Gomis Siggy and Ayew as our strike force hence the speculation of a return for Oliviera as back up. If we do buy a striker it will be a young player who will be used as back up also. Our priority now has to be a left back and goalkeeper anything else would be a bonus.

We can not go the whole season with 1 striker in the PL that would be suicide, you can away with it once or twice, but over a full season it could hurt you bad. We have to sign another striker to challenge Gomis to keep him on his toes.

Correct Trunds but what I'm saying is I can't see the club paying a massive transfer for someone who'll start on the bench, I hope they do but it's more likely to be a bench warmer. We had the same problem last year with Bony and Gomis, these players want to play all the time especially strikers just can't see Huw forking out big money on a striker.

We did in Bony's case , Gomis was bought because the Board knew Bony was off , all our other recognised strikers have been loanees.

But he didn't go till January so we didn't go the whole season with 1 striker. I am sure if Bony had gone in July we would have brought someone else in. We would be the only club in the PL with 1 striker pushing for a starting place, that is madness.

In 2013-14 we had Bony Michu and Vasquez on loan.
In 2012- 13 we had Michu, Moore and Sheckter on loan.
in 2011 -12 we had Graham, Lita and Moore.

So no we haven't always relied on loan strikers as our second choice.

If we are going to have someone on loan I'd prefer someone like James Wilson at Utd.
Still think we need two top quality strikers. Mitrovic and Gomis would be perfect.

In the premiership you have to have 3 quality strikers on the books or you are leaving yourself dangerously short for the season......

As much as I'd love to have signed Mitrovic his addition may well have caused some issues. Mitrovic, already a front line striker, would expect to start the vast majority of games, so would Bafe. One of them would be an unhappy camper in a short time and we've seen Bafe shut down into sulk mode already. Gritting my teeth now but maybe not signing Mitrovic is for the best: shrug shoulders and sigh!

If we are in the market for an understudy, personally I think we need more, but if we are then the uninspiring Oliviera may be exactly what we need. No outlay, cheap to run, has learned his lines, knows his part and is happy to play understudy to Bafe, we couldn't ask for more could we? He has more potential than many we've been linked with, especially those from the championship, so why not? I still think we need more

By his own admission Michu wasn't a striker and spent season2013-14 in the majority out injured , neither were Vasquez or Sheckter ( by just watching them you could see that <laugh> ). but were Moore and Lita any better ? so imo we've always played with one main striker with bit part players to come in as and when needed .Now whether we've been extremely lucky is debateable but with the midfield contributing with a fair share of goals perhaps the Board are happy to go along with the status quo

But how do other clubs manage, do they only have one striker just in case one sulks. No they sign what is right and tell players to fight for their place, no give in to **** arse sulks. If a player wants no competition then maybe they are better elsewhere. So should we not sign Tabanou as it will upset Taylor no. so why are we bowing to Gomis. Is he that good.
