Since moving to Malaysia in december I have watched all games on TV (better coverage than UK by a mile). I have to say that we have no excuses. No real issues with players, poor signings, strange loaning decisions and not really any controversial decisions. We are just not good enough. I don't think it's lack of effort either. Just lack of team chemistry and skill. I was hoping they would have learnt by the wholesale changes they made last year that team chemistry is ultra important......and I don't mean team banter. Yes, on paper our team should be mid-table, but with so many changes how can a team understand how to play together? It's not Harry's fault (tho am bemused as to why Cisse was loaned out) and do feel sorry for Fernandes and co, but although he is an astute and clever business man, the business o football is a different beast. Up until yesterday, the defensive line were looking tighter.....but after the game (which I thought was a must win - although didn't expect it as we are dreadful away from home - possibly worst ever in the prem?) I can't help but think that the ship has sailed and that it all done and dusted. We have conceded 9 goals against Swansea this season. Can honestly expect to say that we deserve to stay up? All said and done, still love the super hoops......always will.
uWell said mate, but have you learned nothing? You are now abroad which means your view of the game is wrong because you were not at the ground. The only people whose opinions count are those at the ground behind the posts struggling to see over others heads from a long way away whilst half pissed. i know the coverage is completely difrent out here but try telling that to some on this board..and god help you if you ever go on WATRB. Anyway, good luck mate, hope its going well for you.
Good post Newbury. Hope things are going well for you in Malaysia. We all feel the pain that is evident in your post. I also feel sorry for Tony Fernandez with the way things have worked out but there are others I feel more sorry for. Each and every supporter who has put their hard earned cash into the club this year. They have my sympathy first.
Love the sarcasm Queenslander To me it makes no difference. Its circumstances that mean I can no longer visit LR, and even considered this fact when choosing to work abroad (much to the wife's disgust!). But have to say, watching from TV as opposed to being tucked away in Loftus Upper block PU kind of gives me a vantage point. Atmosphere traded for position. Not ideal, but..... My membership will be renewe regardless and I will be wearing my authentic hoops shirt (plenty of fakes out here) come what may.......in May. Cheers
I agree. No one can knock TF for passion, effort and honesty. Best chairman for that in the league. Just some poor choices and bad luck. Hope he sticks around.
Agree Newbury, I think our ship sailed a long time ago, maybe last season. I for one wont miss the prem and all the crap that goes with it, looking forward to next season .Saturday and Tuesday games again, no last min Sky changes and decent football. Every cloud has a silver lining.
Fair play......yes, more football, less attitude, cheaper tickets (at least for you guys). Accepted, bring it on.
Have to agree that I have found the premiership to be a disappointing experience (and not just because we haven't been very good). I may not mind the competitive nature of the Championship, however it won't do much for the development of the club infrastructure (training & development of players) nor the need for a new stadium (and the financial spin-offs that can ensue). All a bit of a dilemma.
