we all asume were still looking for a no1,but lets not forget weve just signed a portugal international...how do we know hes not no1 and were actually looking for back up?
What we are looking for is the best available keeper so that we have two who are capable of doing a job for us. Which of the two ends up as #1 at this point really doesn't matter.
I'm sure Moreira was signed as our number one keeper but as Hacker points out, if we signed another good keeper then they'll have to compete for a starting role and spur each other on. Win-Win for us imo unless we don't sign someone better than Ma-Kalambay was.
I personally don't think numbers give much indication these days to what the starting eleven would be at football clubs but i think Brendan would like to see another keeper asap at the club so he can check them out during training before he decides who will be the starting keeper.
the worrying thing for me .....and admitedly my whole opinion comes from you tube...this bloke dosent half seem to punch the ball an awfull lot??!!
So did Dorus to be fair... Wait and see I guess, they wouldn't have signed him if they didn't think he could do a job, and maybe the prospect of being a number one keeper for a Premiership club (and the attention that'll garner ie. internation callups) is just what he needs to bring the best out of him
Nothing wrong with punching if you do it right. I'm more concerned with his lack of football over the last 3 years.
I think that he's going to sign two potential number one's and then let them battle it out... Quite a good idea!
