To a point you are correct but Charlton were getting worse when he got sacked and they only got relegated on the last day of the season , and he bought well .
You also have to realise Cortese said we would not be relegated under him , who will take the blame for that little blinder ?

Cortese's comment about not being relegated was obviously a throwaway line (sadly for him enscribed in stone by Saints fans) as there was no way he could guarantee that.

The second half performance shows that Adkins has the dressing room and can fire them up. Sadly, if you send the team out in the first half and they play so badly, there is little a manager can do apart from yelling or making premature substitutions. The second half reflected well on him, though not sure about making substitutions when we were on top. With his record of getting teams promoted, Adkins should stay even if we are relegated.

In that case, we should play awful and we might get some results.

I watched Spurs in the European game and thought they were beatable, but could undo us for pace. In the first half, they caught us on the break and we kept getting caught with the ball, but they are not a really top side. We could have won this game and should have done at home...we should have played at a high tempo from the start. I understand trying to contain ManU and Man City, but Spurs were beatable.

I dont think he did but to be fair he came in and only had a January window with no real money and then had a relegation summer .

He joined in November, plenty of time and he had money. A bid was accepted for Dawson and Reid but he couldn't persuade them to come. Also, I was lead to believe he was a wheeler dealer; what happened to that?

Sounds like you're offering excuses.... shame you can't spare one for Nigel.

No I am not offering excuse at all , if he could not persuade them to come maybe it was a lost cause already ? I would have Redknapp doing a deal over Adkins anyday BUT does he do the deals ? I have said before I honestly dont think so , I think his input into transfers is limited or far more limited than most managers .

So how come you won't accept the current regime being in for a player and not getting them, but for Twitchy, "oh maybe it was a lost cause already". That really smacks of favouritism to me.

No , no I would rather we were doing well and not having htis conversation but we are where we are , Redknapp would be ideal but only if we thought Adkins could not get us out of it , Cortese will sack him anyway if results dont improve , people thining he will stick with him are looking through rose tinted glasses , thats not going to happen at all .
So who is the best manager out there to get the team out of the **** ? Redknapp but I think he could be at QPR by then , who then ? Holloway would be interesting and he likes youth but long term ? No he wont do .
Interesting times as a manager with the intentions of playing youth will have to be employed so maybe someone from within ?
