Amazing signing! A proven goalscorer at Bristol! and with our supply line he must be licking his lips :) We need to either sell a few players now tbh (Earnie) I wouldn't sell Conway i would look at loaning him out on short term basis with Kadeem Harris goin out for the full season and maybe Ralls/kiss too on a short term loan!

It looks like the owners are putting the money in like promised unlike other chairman (The Riddler)

I just hope its not S*** or Bust!!! As im not sure we could afford all these highly paid players next season if we don't go up???

I reckon our owners have already seen enough of the Championship to know there are no certainties in this league. Leicester were 'nailed on' by all the pundits and most fans for promotion after a spending spree and didn't even make the play offs!!

I do believe we brought more intelligently than they did last year. We brought players with Championship experience which they didn't do. I think our owners will be more patient and we have a better manager than Sven, BUT with this investment if we are struggling for auto contention by late November MM had better warn his Mrs to go easy on the credit cards for Xmas as the dole queue will beckon imo... :emoticon-0107-sweat

i'm getting a bit worried about how much money's being spent to be honest.....dont get me wrong i think maynard is a good player but i think his wages will be a killer....

if we dont go up then what next?

last season we didnt have any goalscorers. to get out of this division we'll need one, so footballing wise great get him in, i just worry about spending multi millions when we're losing the equivalent of £1m a month?

My thoughts exactly!!! great that we are signing players! but to be out paying the german champions for kimbo....bellamy....HH cant come cheap...and maynard will cost a bomb??? This 100mil wont last for long! We were losing 1mil last year with the small squad we had so this year we be losing alot more :/ as we still havent settled the langston debt as far as im aware!

    glad you agree lateboy....<ok>

i think malky has had more than enough backing this year. but look at the competition, blackburn for instance have spend an initial £4.5m on rhodes, £3m best, and big wages on murphy to name just 1. strange that they ran the club on a shoestring whilst in the PL and only now started spending a few quid.

Am I the only one who thinks he's not as good as he's made out to be, didn't exactly do anything at the Hammers, 3 goals in 14 appearances, would have even preferred Jay back, think both of them have big egos but at least Jay would be cheaper and guarantee us a few penalties lol

Maynard is a natural finisher and will score goals if he signs for you. He's a bit lazy and was completely dis-interested in his last few months with us. In his defence, we were playing poorly and the service he got was not good. But it's a team game and his attitude was not well received at Ashton Gate. That's professional footy players these days.

To be honest, I'm surprised that WHAM are letting him go so quickly unless he was whining about being a bench warmer. He's barely got a look in there since he signed.

At least he'll feel at home wearing your (not so) famous red shirts. Good luck Taffs. You'll be there or thereabouts again this year. Hope we can be there with you.

Thanks for your comments Tampa Bay. I get the impression that there are big changes at AG this term, and like yourself, I hope you can stay in the mix - especially if we're there with you. That should make for an interesting return game.

I have to say that I've always like Maynard and thought he was very unlucky to have that lengthy injure whilst at BCFC. I think he'd have taken the Championship by storm if the injury hadn't occured. In my opinion, he has on occasion, shown himself to be a very classy act and provided MM can keep him motivated, we will enjoy the benefits of his game if he signs. I remember a very lazy striker we once had and his name was John Toshack! Let's hope that MM sets us up so that our strikers don't have to all over the place in order to get a touch.

As Tamper say's, I am shocked to see Nicky leave Wham early. He never really had a chance there.

He might not be a poacher goal scorer like earnshaw was for you the first time . But I will say this he will score you some classy goals, would not be surprised if he scores your goal of the season each year he is with you.

I am totally perplexed now as to who will be the first choice strikers at the club. Maynard is undoubtedly a very good footballer but as said earlier, he is the consolation goal king. However if our wide men can get service to him i could see him getting a hat full of goals, especially if whitts get to play a bit further up the field.

Good move for Nicky if it comes off guys......he will score goals with a decent supply to his feet, and as said above, he had very very poor service from us at times. Scores stunning strikes and tap ins alike. IMO, he does tend to get knocked off the ball too easy as he is a little light weight and not as fast as people tend to think. towards the end of his time with us he was obviously not interested and was carried for far too long so his move was well timed.
Should do well for you guys with the decent midfield you have so good luck to you and him.

PS....if you need a translator for his "Brizzle" wife on match days, give me shout and I can use my Bristol roots and knowledge of the Caadiff dialect to assist. :) tidy like

I think Maynard will be a good signing imho - as for the the 1M per month, surely that won't be so much more of the case if the Malaysians have taken over the debt, I would have thought a lot of that would have been interest?

Good luck for the season guys - hope you get promoted...
