We were linked heavily with him last season and in the summer, and Leicester fans had good things to say about him. Sounds like it hasn't worked at 'Wall, but playing in a successful team might help . Now, do we think he's signed as a left winger as JJ doesn't seem at full fitness, or as a striker to replace Clarke?
Can't see this happening - we missed out on him a couple of seasons ago when he was looking pretty good, but he's done nothing since to suggest that would have been a good move for us. I'm N'Guessan this is a bit of straw in the wind journalism. Hayes back now, preferably before tomorrow's game to give us an attacking option on the bench, has still got to be favourite.
Seeing as my millwill season ticket holding house mate has, for at least 5 months, said that he isn't a footballer, i can't say this is a great move...but then again Powell has done well (apart from Clarke) with who he has brought in, I'll wait and see.
Never a fan of bringing in Millwall/Palace players, but... -he can't be worse than Leon Clarke -if he's no good, CP will let him go back in the summer -CP knows his best XI
CP played with and coached him. He'll have the low down on him so I'm quite optimistic about the move. I still think Hayes will be recalled, is it 5 goals in 28 days? You can't ignore that.
Completely forgot about CP having trained/coached with him! That makes it look a lot more appealing, the only two players who CP has signed and have ended up being donkeys were Leon Clarke and Frank Nouble, neither of whom CP appeared to have seen much (add Mikel Alonso to that list if you wish). On the other hand, he was at Leicester with Yann Kermorgant and Michael Morrison who are without doubt two of our best players this season.
I'm not sure we will bring Hayes back, not unless we have a big injury crisis. If N'Guessan does come in it'll be cover for JJ/up front, but when Haynes and JJ are back he'll be on the bench with Haynes, and with us needing a Keeper and Defender on the bench that leaves one place open which would go to Russell/Pritchard/Waggy. Hayes would be back to not even getting in the macth day squad (through no fault of his own) At least if he stay's out on loan he'll be starting and staying match fit.
Forgot this connection, SC - thanks. Just got a text from a Fox - 'Clever bloke Powell, he's done it with Kermorgant, who's to say he can't repeat the same trick? Work cut out though, good ball skill, fast and powerful but completely clueless and tactically naive.' In Chrissy we trust...
To a certain extent....... I wouldn't trust him with my 'Curry flavour' peanuts from Morrison Then again....... I don't trust Missy AH with my 'Curry flavour' peanuts from Morrisons either ...........she had the whole bag whilst I was watching the football on telly yesterday
It's happened. On the OS. Signed until end of season. This doesn't make much sense if it is just to strengthen our squad for the run in. Better to get Hayes back. But it could make sense if CP is hoping to do another "Kermorgant". That is to say, pick up a potentially useful, but currently undervalued, player very cheaply or on a free. Gives CP to the end of the season to decide if he is worth a permanent contract next season.
