Do you think we'll stick with 4231, revert back to 433 or something else ? I think 433 wouldnt be as effective with out current players, but then again, I'd love to see Oscar play in a deeper role. I'm not sure on last seasons formation. The defense seem very isolated from the rest of the midfield. Your thoughts....?
I would hope 4-3-3 unless he buys two new CBs. Our defence and midfield (especially Ramires) do not suit 4-2-3-1. Massive negative impact is that we lose one of the three attacking options
Do we though? Put Mata and Hazrad either side of the striker. I think we all know that Oscar and De Bruyne (should he return) are more suited to slightly deeper roles. I think a 4-3-3 is all round our best option.
I think a midfield like this is about as balanced and effective as you can get. Oscar ------ Ramires --------Mikel

No, Mata not fast enough to play on the wing. Nor is he dominant enough to play in a 3 man midfield. Mata suits 4-2-3-1 to T. Indeed we simply don't have the players to carry off a 4-3-3 effectively. Due to lack of numbers, midfielders in this formation must be dominant. We used to be able to pick on Makelele, Ballack, Essien, Lampard (PLAYERS!) and a small supporting cast for this. With Lampard probably unable to carry off that role as effectively now, and with question marks over Essien, we are nowhere near strong enough for a 4-3-3 even with the option of playing Luiz there. Ramirez \ Mikel \ Romeu are not strong enough replacements for Makelele, Ballack, the Essien before the knee injury, and the Lampard of 04-10.
Our midfield has the same problem we have had for years, with the exception of Luiz, who has done brilliantly considering it's not his usual position, we have no one to get control and run the show. Loads of midfielders to bomb forward , down the lines, behind the striker, inside, outside all over the shop. We have mids who can defend, mids who can attack, left mids ,right mids but bugger all who can spray the ball around, link the defenders and the forwards and provide the craft we are so desperately missing. A couple of kids can do it, but we won't play them. So it's either buy someone, or carry on as per the last couple of seasons. Sjneider or Modric anyone????
