bates will just laugh at it ---he got thick skin----i said before stay ay fecin mome dont go to games---e gets nowt its the only way----bates laughs as us morons---ok
Whoever is the most suitable candidate of those who appear if Bates agrees to selling the club for a reasonable price. They're not going to come out of the woodwork before that time, and the only way to attempt to trigger that as fans is to show our dissatisfaction.
Do me a favour. If you stop buying season tickets then I might listen. Bit late for this season though, isn't it? I'm happy to be the witch on the Elland Road ducking stool as long as you lot keep paying to watch me (not) drown. Morons.
I did. Glad he's suddenly started being a bit more open since the protests started. Shame he's all he's being more open about is his continual ****ishness.
i understand that, however have you considered writing him a letter? As he says and has said before if it is genuinely an interest in what is going on at the club and is not abusive then he will respond. He may not but does it hurt to give it a try? A side note: Also interesting to see that we are signing mikael forssell though
In all honesty, what's the best a letter would get me? More lies to questions which he'll claim he's already dealt with time and time again. I want the man out and he can't redeem himself now after six and a half years of ruining United. The time for constructive dialogue has come and passed.
Is that what one would say about a wife who is a victim at the hands of an abusive husband? A horrendously weak and fallacious response. Now would you like me to state the negatives about that response?
no, i think that is a perfectly valid question. A wife who is the victim at the hands of an abusive husband can go without a husband. Leeds cannot go without a owner Do you see the point? The apparantly like for like example you have used is not like for like whatsoever so i will ask his question again But who in?
Normally that's how I'd react - say if I were the customer of a business who'd sold me faulty goods - but this (in my view) has been a continual and deliberate wearing down over six and a half years from a Leeds-hating man who is a laughing stock in corporate circles due to the horrendous failure of almost every business he's touched. Even disregarding that paranoia/conspiracy theorism, his broken promises and tattered record here speak for themselves. No compromise.
Ok, fair point. Assuming the above-mentioned wife has no means of support, i.e., she needs a husband. Would you still tell her to stick it out until she finds one? Josh, now let me ask you a question. Do you believe there are any good chairmen in English professional football? Can you name 3?
Well she wouldnt necessarilly need a husband (family and government support) but to try and get away from that metaphor, chairman are not there to be liked i honestly believe anyway. I have no issue with what Ken Bates is doing at leeds united but i am trying to start to come back and not push those views as much. I think the chairman that let the club run themselves financially are the good chairman. Meaning what they gain is what they spend and thats not just transfers thats in every part of the club. Therefore also meaning i think chairman like Mancity's chairman and Abromovich are not good chairman. When they leave, the club will not be able to support itself, especially man city at this point in time. The way leeds are being run, it doesnt matter who would come in to take over, they would still easily be able to support themselves and gain a profit each year with the same business methods. Anyway back to your 3 good chairman. I think that Arsenal's chairman is good, Tottenham's Chairman is good and Norwich's chairman is good. But again, i dont think any of these teams will consider themselves lucky to have who they have as chairman. Its one of those things that you dont realise until they're gone
Thanks for your honest responses Josh. The point of the comparison with the abused wife is that no one would suggest she stays with the husband simply because a new one has not been identified. Do you think fans had ever heard of Daniel Levy and Alan Bowkett before they became chairmen at Spurs and Norwich? Randy Lerner at Villa (although Villa fans may not be enamored with him now, they were very happy for a number of seasons)? How about Tony Bloom? Lookit, the first step is for certain fans to recognize that Bates & Mates are not good for Leeds United and are damaging the long term future of the club. Until then, they will continue with the "name someone better" mantra.
yea i understand that fans dont think bates is right and if those fans believe that leeds will be better off without bates then a new candidate isnt necessarily relevant. It is just interesting to see If you were to look at Libya for instance, there was a time when they wanted a guy off facebook to be there new leader simply because he was gaining support on facebook. The true fact is that they didnt know what they wanted, they just needed someone and he was a face. A man with no political background whatsoever to all of a sudden take over a country could have horrendous consequences and even turn out to be worse than gaddafi. Before bates goes, there needs to be a better person lined up rather than rushing him out without someone else. And although this comes from bates,i dont agree with it completely but he has a point - The protesting isnt going to get leeds anywhere because a new owner will see it as hassle more than anything and wont want to deal with troublesome fans. Anyway what i am asking is not who you want to take control of leeds because i seriously doubt anyone here myself included would know any names that would be trying to buy leeds out but rather what kind of owner would you like to take over leeds?
I might be a little biased here, but "troublesome" is not the word I would use to describe Leeds fans. I think our fans have been unbelievably patient and tolerant of Bates & Mates for 6 years. Any potential investor would learn how great our fans are in about 2 minutes by looking at the away support statistics for the last 3 years, at least, as a starting point. As a start, an owner that has respect for our great fans, an appreciation for what they mean to the club and one that attempts to communicate the plans for the club on an ongoing basis with sufficient openness for us to get behind him. One who tries to be intellectually honest and realizes we are not mugs (we refused to sell Max Gradel to a competing club, but it was ok to sell Kasper to Leicester - c'mon!).
Josh, regardless of this "who should come in" question, Bates has to go and the sooner the better. That is the issue of the day now. Leeds fans have reached the end of the road with Bates because he is simply asset-stripping our club. It is clear he is only interested in milking us until he feels he wants to go. Bates will sell when he has had enough of football, until then he stays...or at least while the fans sit back and allow him to carry on. This thread is about protest, not about who should take over. Buyers are not like managers or players...we can't spot them and go "oh, he's got a good track record let's have him then". It is mindless to ask us fans who should replace Bates. Josh, I think you are Ben Fry in disguise. Take a look at your posts and see how many times anyone actually agrees with you. You always try and twist peoples' comments about Bates into a positive or a stalemate. PROTEST PEOPLE, PROTEST!!! BATES MUST GO!!!
