When did I say that, if you read earlier I said that they played some great football that season. I was just mentioning one of their big wins that season.
Some said Arsenal played great football for years. Though what you and I call great may differ. Personally great football wins things not nothing.
With Liverpool's squad back then they played much better than I would have expected them to, I would not have expected them to run Man Utd so close that season. That's my point. With that group of players they had a great season to come second imo.
Do you remember their side? Reina, Gerrard, Alonso, Torres. The rest were not on their level but these at the time were top class players. They were the best Liverpool had had in 2 decades. They failed.
I do remember their team, they had a few quality players but they did not have the same quailty of players that Man Utd had then. Compare the teams and you should see that there was no shame in Liverpool coming second that season.
