Does nobody remember the constant changing and tinkering that Benitez indulged in? After success with Liverpool, he seemed determined to confuse everybody with ridiculous team deecisions. That's the Rafa I remember.
Again not strictly true, I can name plenty of over confident managers who have been very successful. You're just making generalisations. I haven't seen many question Rafa's ability in things that a manager actually does like his tactics, how he handles his players etc.
If they were over confident and successful then that would mean they had 'it' wouldnt it. like Fergie and Mourniho, too arrogant ****s but are you going to suggest they reign it in and perhaps give reason for their arrogance? Rafa almost had it, then he started making changes, and speaking, and signings..... then it all went bad. Aside from our little chat lets remind ourselves of the last time Mr Benitez took over the current holders of the Champions league. Its almost 48 months since he was sacked
Hes got poor man management skills. Its well documented. Hes not the type to hold a players hand and tell them its going to be ok. hes the typle to try and sell you in order to buy Gary Barry
Well winning a champions league with that **** Liverpool team is a huge success in my books. He failed at Inter yes but that does not make him a bad manager, it happens to managers all the time. I could sit here all day and name quality managers who failed at specific clubs but were great at others, it happens.
I think people are forgetting what a complete and utter clown Benitez was, towards the end of his reign at 'Pool. 'Pool was a spent force long before Benitez left. He started throwing money around, spending silly sums on half-decent players, in a desperate attempt to reclaim 'Pool's glory days. He failed miserably. It makes me laugh when 'Pool fans go on about his "record" like he was winning titles and trophies on a regular basis. He wasn't. By the way, he was another manager whom I predicted would get axed. The Mousers have never forgiven me for being right on that one.
You are basing this on something that happened 7 years ago. By that definition Wenger is once again a super manager who wins things
His record ended in May of 2006. In football terms thats aeons ago. We all take the mick out of Wenger for failing to win anything for slightly longer yet Rafa is still rated based on something that happened time ago? Who was that Leeds manager who won the least Division One title before the PL came into effect? He would be a good shout for a top manager
No but if you put it into perspective it doesnt look very good when you consider what hes achieved since.
Fantasy Rafa is a site where you try and predict Rafa’s starting 11 for each game. The closer you are to getting it right the more points you get. It’s all for fun, and there’s no charge for registering. http://www.fantasyrafa.com/ Chelsea fans may want to register for the above.
It still looks great to me, also since then he was manager of Liverpool when they ran Utd very close for the premier league title. again this was with a **** team imo. He got sacked the next season then went to Inter which didn't go well and he has been out of management for the last 2 years.
Of course its great but its also something from a long time ago and something he hasnt come close to since. Chances are he wont ever. That was his peak.
