Just had a look at that: http://talksport.com/football/predi...s-arsenal-clear-liverpool-sliding-13121071335 They predict Cardiff to win 4 out of 5, I'd be very surprised at that.
It took the goals panel a week to actually figure out that goal was offside, even the slow mo replays on MOTD couldn't decide so can't blame the officials for getting that wrong. Kone missed 2 complete sitters from point blank range that even Aaron McLean would have found harder to miss than score, they had a few other chances too. We only had one proper chance and scored it, we got away lucky IMO.
Sorry but I really can't agree with that. Firstly - I thought it was immediately and they agreed on MOTD that it was offside AND that Barry deserved 2 reds, which you've conveniently omitted from your response. So we were bitterly unlucky with decisions, you can't really argue with that. Secondly - The two chances you cite came in the dying embers of the game and were both counter attacks that wouldn't have occurred had we not been pushing for an equaliser. Which, as stated above, we wouldn't of been if it weren't for an offside goal. Everton had their chances, as did we (Faye had 3 free headers from corners, he should've scored at least one, probably 2). To call us lucky in that game seems bizarre, I'm sure most Everton fans left the ground feeling a tad fortuitous.
For Kone's easiest miss was miles offside but didn't get seen by lino. I thought we were extremely unlucky not to win never mind escape without conceding many.
Cardiff's next 5 games are West Brom - H Liverpool - A Southampton - H Sunderland - H Arsenal - A No disrespect but I don't see them getting 4 wins out of those 5
I'd rank Swansea as the poorest team we've played away. Thought we lost a good chance for 3 points in the last 25 minutes by not bringing Brady or Boyd on up front instead of Koren. Otherwise I'd agree with your rankings.
Completely agree. We should get 6 points from Stoke and Fulham with a more attacking mindset....and definitely Faye for Chester to nullify Crouch on those crosses which Chessie has a problem with. Wouldn't be surprised to see us get a point from both WBA and Man U...both are in poor form currently.
Aim is to stay up obviously. Anything else is a bonus Looking at the last few seasons.. 2012/13 After 19 games All three relegated Safety point mark was 37 points 2011/12 After 19 games Relegated teams Wolves, Bolton and Blackburn Safety point mark was 37 points 2010/11 After c19 game Must admit it surprised me this one! Relegated teams Blackpool, West Ham, Birmingham Safety point was 40 points - supposed magical marker There is no science but my personal belief is that there are more teams in the mix for Champions League spaces this season (Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool, Everton, Man U an Man C) than ever before. These have more to play for and thus should be more up to taking points off the bottom teams. We need to take points off our peers. It is no good us taking points off the Top 10 in reality (although any point gained is great) at the expense of getting points off those who are in the mix with us at the bottom. Think back to the recent Liverpool / Palace games - we got the points in the wrong game in reality
Hopefully not another tiny image Although slightly out of date I wonder why the number of points required looks like it is decreasing over time, or certainly the bottom half of the graph shows a lower average than the top half
Are sides just going into meltdown more often now, where before they were just not quite good enough? Does the graph show the number of points needed to finish above the bottom 3, or the number of points that 4th bottom got? Just as a guide: Hull C 42 ------------------- Sunderland 38 Norwich 36 C Palace 29 Would that be shown in the graph as 39 or 42?
1) Arsenal by a country mile 2) Chelsea 3) Man City 4) Southampton 5) Everton 6) Newcastle 7) Swansea 8) Tottenham (lucky sods) Nor do i. Cardiff will do well to get a win from the Sunderland game otherwise they could be almost pointless in that period of games.
Looking at the bottom 7 teams, these are the games they have to play between now and New Years Day. Dates......Sunderland -- C.Palace -- Fulham -- West Ham -- Cardiff - Norwich ---- Stoke +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++ 14/15 Dec. W.Ham (a)....Chelsea(a)..Everton(a) Sun'land(h)..Wba(h)...Swansea(h)...Hull(a) 21/22 Dec..Norwich(h)....N'castle(h)..ManCity(h).ManUtd(a)..L'pool(a)..Sun'Land(a)...Aston Villa(h) 26th Dec....Everton(a)...AstonVilla(a).Norwich(a).Arsenal(h)..Saints(h)..Fulham (h)....Newcastle(a) 28/29 Dec...Cardiff(a)....Man City(a)...Hull(a)......WBA(h)....Sun'land(h).Man Utd(h)...Tottenham(a) NYD 1st Jan.AstonVilla(h) Norwich(h)..W.Ham(h).Fulham(a)..Arsenal(a)..C.Palace(a)...Everton(h) Anything above 8 points from the next 5 games should see Hull City well clear of the bottom 3 looking at these fixtures.
We went down in 09/10 with 30 pts but it's showing the 'safety pts' as 35 which would be the total of the team in 17th. So it's misleading. 31 pts would have been enough to stay up that season. Statistics eh !
Gus Poyet is saying that Sunderland need 3 wins from there next 4 games otherwise they look DOOOOMED.!!!! Oh dear. Lol. With West Ham - Norwich and Cardiff the 3 you can see why.!!
Yes. But we have those to play as away games in the new year. Palace was supposed to be easy and look what happened. Liverpool supposed to be hard and look what happened. Anything around the 6/7 points from the next 4 games and we shall be well away from the bottom 3 looking at other fixtures over the same period. imo.
Looking at the 6 most likely teams to be in the most danger of going down at the moment. Here are the January games for Sunderland-West Ham-Fulham-Crystal Palace-Cardiff City-Norwich City on 1st Jan, 11th Jan, 18th Jan and 28th Jan.2014 Sunderland have:- Aston Villa(h) Fulham(a) Southampton(h) Stoke City(h) West Ham have:- Fulham(a) Cardiff(a) Newcastle(h) Chelsea(a) Fulham have:- West Ham(h) Sunderland(h) Arsenal(a) Swansea(a) C.Palace have:- Norwich(h) Spurs(a) Stoke(h) Hull(h) Cardiff have:- Arsenal(a) West Ham(h) Man City(a) Man Utd(a) Norwich have:- C.Palace(a) Everton(a) Hull City(h) Newcastle(h) Cardiff City have the month from hell.
