Final whistle - 2-1 to Pompey.

    Well done Awfs <ok>

Both Northampton & Torquay (and Exeter) all lost today.

We're pulling away from the drop zone.

Hopefully this win will help the players confidence levels for the next 6 games <ok>

Hopefully this is the turning point. Not just for this season, but for the long-term.

According to one of the board members AA managed to get only "a few minutes" with the squad yesterday.

Just goes to show what a motivator he is and how little motivation RB gave them.

On his interview with the BBC AA said he asked Ryan Taylor to run around like Benjani <laugh>

And a new word has entered the Pompey dictionary today............. Awfsome !

    Awfsome - how apt <laugh>

Ryan Taylor certainly caused their defence some problems this afternoon. Won a penalty, should have been awarded a second pen, and was then quickly substituted by Awfs, before he got sent off for retaliating.

The Newport players were quite a crude lot, and if that is how Justin Edinburgh coaches them as players, we certainly don't want him as our new manager.

With Northampton and Torquay both losing it was a good day at the office, but "holding on" to a single goal victory against 9 men just shows the job that has to be done if we aren't to be in another relegation scrap next year.

Or to flip it the other way round, a win, no matter how scraped, from a team bereft in confidence and having a disrupted week training wise after just one match means that the first hurdle has been cleared and now we can start pushing on with that 'burden' released!
