OK guys - you seem a half decent bunch so let's get you off the worry football for a minute and trawl the memory banks again.

Does anyone remember the annual "eyeballs in the sky" appearance?

Clue - they appeared every year at about the same time in the summer and were only visible from a rock pool.

No cheating please and it's nothing to do with Alan Parsons.

cant remember, I'd guess at the preacher crab

Edit- Think thats wrong cos it was the crabs that referred to the eyeballs in the sky, so Id guess it was the dog, who's name I cant remember

Nah, it was the preacher who declared the great annual event was happening to his assembled flock - who was looking in?

Just saw your edit MW - quite correct.

Anyone remember the eyeball owner's name or even his owner for that matter?

I remember enjoying the newspaper serialisation, and then I think they made it into a tv show when I was about 13 or 14, and have to admit that it was no where near as funny.

Wellington's dog, Boot. Was the 'eyeballs in the sky' and started a cult
amongst the crabs in the pool. Daily Mirror. There was the little rich boy who ate chocolate cigars called Fiscal Yeer, the 'way out dude' called Dylan. I think the girl was Maisie. Can't remember any others.

But can you remember Wellington's birthday? Aaah, there you go.

I bet you all remember Jane, but what was the name of the strong man in the other cartoon, the prodigy of Professor Lumiere?

Brilliant explanation of the rock pool crabs.............

"The Crabs: The crustacean inhabitants of a seaside rock pool, visited by Boot every year during the Perishers' summer holiday. Some of the crabs believe that Boot's eyes peering down at them are a mystical visitation – "The Eyeballs in the Sky" – and this belief is exploited by a preacher crab who uses their appearance as an excuse to extort money from his congregation. His efforts are always opposed by a scientist crab who continually attempts to invent a device to break through the surface and see what the Eyeballs really are, despite the preacher's protests that he will rend the fabric of the pooliverse. The conflict usually ends up in a full-scale crab fight, and Boot is left none the wiser as to crustacean behaviour. Usually, one of the crabs claims that something is "bad fer y'r 'ealth".

Classic (and very clever) characterisation of the subjects - far better than Andy Capp that got all the praise.

BTW Brissie, I think Dylan was the spaced out rabbit in Magic Roundabout - the "way out dude" in this lot was called Marlon. <ok>
