It's OK but you're right about it being cluttered. Why do they insist on having a landing page? You have to look for the link to go tho the main page. Not good design imo.
Personally I like it myself, It will take a little getting used to but I think it's a step up from the old one (thought it was a bit boring for my taste)... It is a bit cluttered but i'm sure they will sort that out!
The site is a shambles, its not ready! Click on mobile version to see latin default text they have a gallery with Aston Villa on it And the player stats are utterly wrong, they have our new signings on the 2011/12 season, siggy is not there as one of the top scorers, and caulker is not there either What the **** are they doing to the swans website? Why are they releasing an unfinished website? Complete amateurs! The white text on a black background is crap, don't they know ****ing anything about easy to the eye designs ? ****ing pathetic!
New website is trying to be far too clever - and failing badly. Far too slow to load. I would much prefer boring if it is fast, accurate, and I quickly got to the information I wanted.
Agree Lydford, If it aint broke don`t fix it. Now it`s far too fussy & messy, very slow to load (on my slowish connection) KISS (keep it simple stupid). Web designers seem to want to put in all the bells & whistles, just to show how clever they are and end up making a dog`s dinner of it. All web designers should be forced to run their "stupendous" designs on a really slow connection, just to see how long it takes. The "official club sponsor" at the bottom is also pretty annoying, I know they have to put the "sponsors" there for obvious reasons, but six in a row!
What a ****ing mess. I wonder how much the paid to get this done. Not too much I hope. Even a child could do better than this. UPDATE: I just noticed that there is a poll on the website asking if you like the new design. 63% like it, 18% don't and 18% have no idea whether they like it or not (not sure what's wrong with the last group - maybe they have problems making decisions).
New website is a functional disaster. It fails to load and execute properly on Safari on the iPad, and on Google Chrome - probably anywhere.
