The perpendicular aspect of this thread has gone off on a tangent...somewhere between horizontal and vertical.
Bale has missed a couple of sitters recently (How ungrateful is that, to critisise Bale after his recent performances) so he is not an out and out striker more of an old fashioned centre forward. The need for a top specialist striker is still there. Just getting back on topic after the outrageous mirth that has crept into this thread. You're not supposed to enjoy yourselves, this is football not some bloody ball game.
This thread has actually cracked me up! Anyways - Im not 100% what AVB has in mind for the left side, as presently it is occupied by Holtby/gylfi roaming inside and Ade running wide. So maybe we don't NEED a winger. Though I would like to see someone brought in that can play both sides if needed, and Andros used more as well vs teams we should be beating more easily (once we are an establised CL team) We will have a boat load more cash coming our way next year do to PL monies and hopefully CL, so bar a few wage increases here and there, we should have enough to buy the few players we need: IMO NEW STRIKER to replace Ade (his wages are far too high for someone so poor for us) - I would love a Cavani/Lewandowski level striker but I don't think Levy will want to splash the cash in that way New winger as discussed - no one in mind at present New Right back to give support to walker who seems to play every game - is kyle naughton the future here, not so sure. New CM Joao Mutinho to rotate with Dembele - orrrrrrrrr......i'd love to get rat face back. I think these additions would really add to our strength, moving Bale between Striker and Support striker will make him hard to mark, and having an option for Lennon/lm if we want to change a game will also give us options. Walker, dembele, lennon and Bale cannot continue to play every game - Even Lloris is getting rotated more than them!
How dare you criticise the great one! Shame on you Spurf, shame on you. Hands up for Spurf to be banned
Yeah, how close is mini-Bale to breaking through? What was his name again? This is the guy that even looks like him right?
He's been taking part in the U21s recently, since Pritchard, Obika, etc. went out on loan, but he's normally a sub, I think. Miles away from the first team right now, by the looks of things.
I like the way Gylfi's been setting up shop on the left the last few games. The team actually looks pretty good right now, in the sense that we have about the right number of starting-type players in the right places. I don't know how to phrase this without sounding smug, so I won't try. I'm still glad we didn't sign Damnyou (again). I was kinda/sorta thinking Bale might shine in the absence of strikers, but didn't, obviously, foresee it happening to this degree. It really does seem like one of the tricks to successful general management is to somehow not buy strikers. Develop them, get them on loan, do what you have to do to avoid what's likely to be an expensive failure.
