There's been suggestions that the plastic pitch was suitable for rugby, so I'm reckoning that it will be that.

Apparently, Saracens play on an artificial pitch anyway, so almost definitely the artificial surface.

So, we'll just leave the ruining of the pitch to clubs foolish enough not to install 2 playing surfaces.

Have they any history of playing on plastic pitches? I don't follow the game so have no idea.

    1. Did not know the Sarries played on an artificial pitch
(a bit of a surprise to me - NFL I can understand but God knows
what skin abrasion is like for continual tackles/rucks/mauls) .

    2. For those tempted by "nomad" banter, WHL is about as far
from their Bramley Rd homeland as Barnet Copthall is
(dunno where their core demographic is - they have played in
the past at Enfield and Watford) .

There are a number of artificial pitches in use in RFU, so there's no problem here under current practices...

    https://www.therugbysite.com/blog/news-opinions/premiership-clubs-roll-out-artificial-turf

It's a one-off for now but there's a possibility for other one-offs bolstered by the restrictive number of games playable at Twickenham.

I love the irony in this quote with regards to artificial grass:
The grassroots game has long since embraced the technology

For some games (London derbies, top of the table clashes, Euro cups)
I suspect that the Sarries could increase their attendance by 2-3x what
they can hold at Barnet at least.

Again, with the demographics of Saracens and visiting supporters for
such games, I suspect that going to WHL is a much better travel option
than Barnet Copthall. Throw in the catering facilities at new WHL, and even better.

So I would not be surprised to see a number of Sarries games played
at new WHL from now on.

The PR is great too (a top-flight English football club in N London
assisting a top-flight English rugby club also in N London) .

Any playing surface that meets the cost/safety/maintenance demands
for all of bean counters / elf n safety / ground staff / players, is good for me.

I was both unaware and surprised that artificial pitches were even feasible
for rugby (based on when I played at schoolboy level) , but I have been
pleasantly surprised by being educated on this (in general + what it
    potentially means for THFC) .

Match ticket, pie and a pint for a tenner? Shame it's not like that every week. I'd move in.
