I took the opportunity to take a drive over to the Emirates Stadium yesterday, as I promised one of my staff that I'd buy them an Arsenal mug to incentivise and reward a project that they'd worked hard on earlier in the week. Having abandoned the car on a patch of land 200 yards away I dashed in and out of their superstore without picking up a ticket. The place was swarming, probably over 100 shoppers over lunchtime on a non match-day. I declined the stadium tour - asked by each member of staff at the tills and headed off. On my journey West, some 30 minutes later, I swung into South Africa Road, pulled up on the pavement and picked up a few stocking fillers. Needless to say I was the only shopper! It brought home the gulf in support and what a new stadium might bring in terms of commercial revenues.
I think success will bring us new supporters Sku, not a new stadium. Unless its really comfy and people come in for a lie down.
I did not know where to post this since it does not merit a new thread so here will do. This is a picture of Sports Direct footie shelves taken while Mrs RTID and I enjoyed a bit of shopping and a meal at Westfield. Can anyone spot the deliberate omission? Unless there is some business reason for not allowing QPR merchandise at Westfield, why on earth aren't we there week after week with free balloons for kids etc to raise the profile and attract new fans? Gutting to see all the London teams represented, Liverpool of course but, particularly galling today, Newcastle too. That team being well known as local to W12!!!! View attachment 34229
Good point RTID, West Ham have a store in Westfield Stratford which was built much later than the Bush one... http://www.whufc.com/articles/20120105/westfield-store-update_2236884_2566356
Perhaps one to be addressed at the next fans meeting. No doubt the Scottish Rangers are there due to Mike Ashley's involvement...
When Roller I think it was, was asking for questions previously I mentioned the fact that the raving irons have a presence in Westfield City and why don't we in Westfield W12. Seem to recall they were looking into it was the eventual response.
Sadly its the same over here. All the big sports shops have ManUre, Hammers, Chavs and scouser stuff. Not seen our top anywhere yet ~!
Sports Direct is an evil place. Zero hours contracts for staff who seem completely untrained and obviously only work there until they canfind something, anything, else. I'm glad we don't feature in there. We're lucky enough to have a proper old fashioned family sports shop a couple of miles away, really good kit and knowledgeable staff who can fit boots, advise on the right size tennis raquets, gumshields etc. Of course they don't sell football shirts (a few rugby ones). Still not specialised enough to prevent my wife driving my daughter to Macclesfield to buy some Japanese import hockey stick, which at that price should be able to make a cup of tea and do your ironing. But its daft you can't buy any QPR stuff in Westfield.
Suprised we havent got our own shop in Westfield TBH....? I can tel by the Hockey sticks and gum shields (for Rugger i assume) that you are from the nicer part of the neighbourhod !! Did i hear Honeypot Lane mentioned last week..? I did my apprenticeship at Kingsbury Traing centre and the Green Man always featured in our drinks. Could never be bothered to go down to the Preston... Wha was the name of the other pub adjacent to the Dairy site on the traffic lights and oposite the green? Can never remember, but remember falling asleep outside once!!
