A few tweets on the official club account about the adidas issues. Essentially what DTLW has said, they cancelled the contract in December, seems the new board tried to get them back in March but that was too late. So "alternative solution" has been found, and it seems adidas will probably be back for 15/16.
What on earth is this all about? We signed a long term deal with adidas, cancel the contract, try to reconcile, fail, but want them to supply our kits in the future. Bit of a mess.
Think the kit this year has been a bit of a disaster. Too much of a template design for the home kit, and the gold which was hard to see against the red. Also, whilst I really liked the away kit, it's been sold out in my size for ages (probably since Christmas at least)! Think it's better to have a unique kit maker as I imagine we can have more say.
I am all for stripes as long as the red starts at the bottom and goes up, and the white starts at the top and goes down.
Right, I've been given the green light so here goes... Saints cancelled the deal with Adidas prior to Christmas 2013 due to a series of reasons, which are... - Kit missed original planned launch date - On revised launch date, club did not have full range of both kits - (shirts, shorts and socks etc.) - Training wear delivered with wrong colour monochrome badges on - (if you are eagle-eyed you'll have seen black training shirts with red logos) - Several items ordered for club staff were late in arriving (bench coats etc.) - Long-sleeve shirts not available to fans until about October - Other items for supporters left out of stock, meaning store wasn't suitably stocked - Poor communication and delivery from Adidas - Poor access to stock, which was being held in a warehouse in Manchester - Leaked photo of new kit posted online by courier working for Adidas Those are the main things. Basically Cortese blew his top and refused to even discuss some sort of agreement between SFC and Adidas. He informed them that he was terminating the deal. However, with the time-frame we were unable to find a renowned kit supplier who could take us on, so we've found a stop-gap for next season.
The guy who sits in front of me reckons he has seen the design for the new kit. He said something like, from sponsor down is white, and up is red - might have been the other way round. But it's not stripes and not plain red.. No idea how reliable he is, as he is a total wasteman, but by the end of the game he had sobered up somewhat and was adamant that was what it would be.
