so a dissapointing season...but I am now getting excited for the close season!
I am hoping/expecting that Hess is going to have a fairly large clear out, with players like Maccammon and Gowling being shown the road out and Cody and few other players being snapped up by other league 1 teams...
So who can we get in instead?
some people that I have thought of include Ashley Grimes of relegated Lincoln and Izale Mcleod of Barnet...Thoughts?

I had both of them in my mind weird, But with Grimes he is on loan from Millwall, problems, But we could get him as I think they might release him, Izale has been one that I have been thinking about for the last 4 months, He would be great, He could be on a free and scores loads of goals, Two great signings.

McLeod, now why do I remember him?

Oh? yeah he was the number 23, that gave Richards & Sinclair a lesson in how not to defend.

brb, I'm afraid you have got your home thumpings confused!

It was LAWRENCE and GOWLING who were terrorised by McLeod, in the BARNET match!

Gills_Steve - sorry you are correct, apologises to Richards and Sinclair, one home thumping obviously overlaps in to another <laugh>

It was the Macclesfield number 23 Barnett, that terrorised Richards & Sinclair <ok>

Just found the post I wrote at the time, to many number 23's!!

    What happened again?

8 goals now conceded in the last two home games.

Did not like the team that Hessy put out, however, in fairness it was the same team that beat Rotherham away and took 3 points, wasn't it?

Last week I watched Barnet's number 23 McLeod tear through us, today I had to watch Macclesfield's number 23 Barnett, rip Richards to bits!

So that is Gowling & Richards who both seem to be unable to keep hold of their man, what way forward for the Gills in that department?

Lawrence has made mistakes during previous games but at least he is experienced, generally solid at the back.

Barcham appeared to be playing out of position today, although Martin was Man of the Match, I just believe him and Barcham don't seem to cut it together. Hessy brings a disappointed Barcham off after about 30mins, not sure why, however, tactically appeared all wrong.

Rooney came on as sub, probably making more effort than anyone to strike on goal.

Cody, missed two sitters, when he has an off day or an unlucky one that did not go his way, the result reflects it.

All season I've been saying, please stop hoofing those balls forward, I know the tactical plan with Bayo, apart from that our forwards just watch constantly has it goes over their heads to the opposing defenders. If we want to play those tactics, we don't need Cody or Rooney but a couple of giant forwards.

When Macclesfield came forward at us today, even if it was against the run of play, it was comical how easy they just cut straight through us - why have we had the inability to do that, in our last two home games, why are we allowing it to happen to us?

Pre season without doubt, we are going to need to have a serious look at this team and the size of our squad, dare I say to much choice, not enough quality.

    All just my opinion.

    New recruits:

    Rene Howe

    Chris Whelpdale (If available now)

Francis Laurent (Last seen at Northampton)

Got a feeling Izale McLeod wont want anything to do with GFC after his problems with the Gordon Road faithful.

Charlie Lee is now a bit of a mainstay in the Posh team, Whelpdale isn't but I very much doubt he will drop down to L2. Don't forget, his move to Priestfield was only as a temporary measure to gain some match fitness...

As for possible targets? Well, we need to start looking at who becomes available. Howe? Possibly. Laurent? No thank you. Aside from any Simeon money we may receive, I sincerely doubt we will have any thing else to offer players such as Grimes and McLeod who can easily, easily play at L1 level.

Didn't McLeod get shafted out by Charlton because he had a terrible attitude problem?

Anyone else think we need a new keeper? If we are are to push on next season along with a striker if Cody leaves I feel a decent keeper is a must.
