At home v Brighton I bought a pie, haven't had one in a while because generally they've been ****. Anyway, Wednesdays effort of peppered steak pie was one of the best pies I've ever had at a football ground. Clearly these are not the mass produced ****e we're used too as they don't come in film, and they taste pretty bloody good too. Only really writing this as there have been a few negative comments re the pies. These people can't have tried these new ones, they're great!
The Brighton game was the first time I had one in years too (probably at Wembley last) and I thought it was shocking, as I expected it to be. It was meat and potato but I won't be rushing back.
I agree with GLP the Peppered steak pies are much better than the others. Not served in wrapping so must be another supplier. Full of meat and very tasty. My mate used to mock me for being a pie eater.. he now has them too!
Not that I indulge that often at football grounds, however, on a cold night in Cardiff a few years ago, having had nothing to eat all day, the Ninnian Park pies still never beaten! I remember gorging 3 consecutively and feeling 'satisfied'. I bet the new ground equivalents are as plastic as the arena looks!
Going back a few years now, I remember going to Kidderminster and feasting on a fantastic cornish pasty + home made broth. I cannot recall anything prior to or since that game coming anywhere near the quality of the food that day. Culinary heaven.
Great new pies ? I like pies. Il give one a go.Suppose they're £3.60 though ? Is Jon Parkin coming back ?
ive tried both the steak and the M&P pies , both are like dog food , but i only buy it to hold onto and keep me mitts warm ! You wont see me with a pie when it warms up - same with their Coffee , I would have paid an arm and a leg for my pie n coffee but i wouldnt be able to carry both back to my seat
I thought the peppered steak pie was great, proper meat, no ****. Some of you are very hard to please!
Are the meat and potato pies actually meat and potato now? I noticed before that they were actually called potato and meat pies, which might not sound any different but there's rules about the order ingredients are listed, so it basically meant they were a cheaper version of meat and potato with less meat and more potato than normal ones.
I understand that the pies come from Manchester somewhere and that they are the same pies sold (much more expensively) at Manchester City. I personally favor the delicious peppered steak pies but, like all such foods, they are easily spoiled by overcooking. Now everyone known about the "high" quality of the bar staff at the KC who prepare the food.............
I sent two pints back on Wednesday night, they're bloody useless in the bar. There's a small temporary bar in one corner of the room and they never have any pint glasses at half time, what do the useless bastards due during the first half?
The pies at Chesterfield pre season were as good as Jones the Butchers in Preston. Cant give higher praise than that.
I'm sure you can get pizza pie, and not in the way americans call ordinary an ordinary pizza a pizza pie. Why don't you get any sweet pies at football though? Surely they're missing the kids market by not having apple pie and things like that.
